With MEET funding and Action for Sustainable Development (ASUD) technical support, communities are restoring the land through #agroforestry and #sustainable practices.
Umodzi Green Collect, with support from MEET, held a stakeholder meeting in Zomba for the Community Waste-to-Energy Project. The project will run at Matawale Market & Zomba Central Prison, aiming to improve waste management, generate renewable energy & promote sustainability.
We joined the inception workshop for the MELBA Malawi Project at BICC in Lilongwe, organised by FAO. The 4-year project, funded by the Govt. of Norway, will strengthen climate data and learning to scale up ecosystem-based adaptation in forests and agriculture. ππ±
MEET joined a tree planting exercise at Dzedza Mountain, Dedza District - an area previously affected by landslides. π±
The initiative supports soil erosion control, restores vegetation cover, and strengthens community resilience against future disasters.
Organized by the Department of Land Resource Conservation under Malawiβs national theme: βTrees and Forests for Community Resilience.β Tools were also handed over to communities to ensure continued care of the trees.
