We celebrated the graduation of our Grade 8 and Grade 12 students from MEF International Schools, Istanbul. The TOK Exhibition at MEF International Schools, Izmir provided an excellent opportunity for students to showcase their thinking and communication skills as they presented their work to members of the senior school, parents, and invited guests. Throughout a variety of stations, students demonstrated collaboration, problem-solving skills, resilience, and sportsmanship while enjoying friendly competition with their peers. Congratulations to Ephesus House for being named this year’s winning House, and well done to all Houses for their enthusiasm, effort, and team spirit.

This year 7th grade Humanities students at MEF IS, Izmir studied world religions, philosophy, and art/poetry as a way to express our ideas and beliefs. They finished their studies with a showcase of their research, communication, analysis, collaboration, and reflection skills, expressing their own ideas and beliefs in multiple formats.

The tournament brought together teachers, parents, staff members, and students from our national and international schools, where friendship, teamwork, and sportsmanship took center stage.

The primary swim team at MEF International Schools, Izmir had a fantastic day at the friendly swim meet hosted by Işıkkent School!

Reception class at MEF International Schools, Izmir visited the local Fire Station. They met real firefighters and learnt all about their roles. They learned about the different parts of a fire engine and the equipment firefighters use. They also tried on a firefighters helmet and got to use the hose.

Grades 3 and Grade 4 students at MEF International Schools, Izmir proudly participated in the First Lego League Explore Festival. This year’s theme, UNEARTHED(TM), invited teams as junior archaeologists to help solve mysteries about the past using LEGO® technology. Students demonstrated excellent innovation and creativity in the design and construction process of their team models and were recognized with the Innovative Design Award.

As part of MEF International Schools, Izmir’s celebration of May 19th Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day, students took part in an afternoon of student selected sports tournaments and activities. Throughout the event, they demonstrated excellent teamwork, sportsmanship, and school spirit while competing to earn valuable house points for their teams.

Kindergarten students at MEF International Schools, Izmir did an incredible job hosting the Primary Assembly! Looking fabulous in lab coats they took on the role of scientists to host a mini science fair, where they demonstrated experiments exploring push and pull forces. The visitors were challenged to observe each experiment keenly, think about which force was being used and then note down their observations. Kindergarten students did a wonderful job explaining their experiments and what they were doing in their own words!

At MEF International Schools, Istanbul, we proudly celebrated our final assembly of the academic year, a powerful student-led event that brought together learning from all grade levels.

This meaningful celebration reflected the remarkable journey our students have experienced throughout the year. From early years to upper grades, students confidently shared their learning, performances, reflections, and creative expressions, demonstrating growth across academic, social, and emotional domains.

The assembly highlighted not only what students have learned, but also how they have learned—through inquiry, collaboration, creativity, and reflection. It was truly inspiring to witness their voice, agency, and ownership of learning shine so clearly on stage.

As a community, we came together to celebrate progress, effort, and achievement, ending the year with a strong sense of pride and connection.
