“#Ableism & unexamined assumptions about people with disabilities have persisted in bioethics despite decades of counternarratives, research, & divergent perspectives. It is past time to take disability seriously”- @DMukherjee9 @kristi02287@hastingscenter

The Assisted Decision-Making Capacity Amendment Bill 2022 was published today. 7 years on from the original Act, you might think the Bill would update the 2015 Act, learning from some of the major progressive capacity law reforms in other countries during that time. No such luck.
Problem with online conferences- you are prevented from being that weird fangirl in front. #feministkilljoy. Read "Complaint! (2021)" by @SaraNAhmed - its balm for the academic activists soul
@SaraNAhmed@uni_iceland Thank you so incredibly much! Truly reinvigorated me and am really so appreciative of how you address intersectional identities
"We knock on the door not because we desire entry but to cause disturbance." So validated by @SaraNAhmed#complaintcollective. How many doors @uni_iceland? Academics with disabilities and their allies in #Iceland
"They are seen as complaining when they are only asking for what they are entitled to." Amazing talk by @SaraNAhmed hosted by @uni_iceland when asked how its different for #disabled students and academics #complaints. @uni_iceland are you listening? "Feminist Ears"
@iamharaldur you asked about accessibility at @uni_iceland ? After battling for 2.5 years over complete #inaccessibility of online portals for those with visual impairments and staging #protests- we have just been asked to use these portals like nothing has been said (1/3)
Those of us that teach @uni_iceland and have physical imparments have the great #indignity of being unable to reach podiums, front of classes, or IT equipment all other instructors have access to. So who is @uni_iceland really thinking of when they talk #Equality? @RUVohf
@uni_iceland @Haskoli_Islands people with #disabilities regularly are stuck in elevators because they are not maintained or cannot reach their offices. Students with #Neurodiversity regularly do not recieve #accomodations.
Paula Campos Pinto about Megan L Smith's work on reproductive choices, prenatal screening, & fetal impairment policies & practices in Iceland & Ireland: "I want to praise you for your research topic: it is very relevant for the feminist & disability movement and for our society."
Megan L Smith @meg_smith23 from @uni_iceland will share her insights from her research on ‘Reproductive choices, prenatal screening and fetal impairment: Examining policy and practice in Iceland and Ireland’. @ReproRights@ThinkCREA @monika_mitra
Oh and stop saying the main reason to have access to abortion is to not have disabled children.
Disabled people will, of course be disproportionately harmed and you can only see including disability in the conversation using eugenics?
Fuck you mean, I will dog walk you.
Anyone that DARES say that eliminating #RoeVsWade will support people with certain #disabilities- DONT YOU DARE USE DISABILITY TO SUPERFICIALLY PROMOTE YOUR AGENDA. Care about disabled people? ADVOCATE FOR BETTER FUNDING, SUPPORT SERVICES, AND THE UPHOLDING OF EQUAL RIGHTS
