For those people saying, “If @MrsErikaKirk were truly grieving, she would’ve taken a year off for her kids and therapy”:
Coretta Scott King led a march in Memphis DAYS after MLK’s assassination and kept fighting for civil rights for decades.
Myrlie Evers-Williams jumped right into activism after Medgar’s murder, raised their 3 kids, and later ran the NAACP.
Ethel Kennedy raised 11 children while pushing the Kennedy family’s political and social causes.
Betty Shabazz, who was there when Malcolm X was killed, raised their 6 daughters, got her doctorate, became a prominent activist, and spent her life protecting his legacy.
Elisabeth Elliot stayed in the jungle with the tribe that murdered her husband and kept doing missionary work.
Some women are just built different. They throw themselves into their husband’s cause instead of falling apart. It’s called “immersion” and is common in grief.
You might not like it, but you don’t matter. That woman will protect and continue her husband’s legacy, no matter how awful you people are.
Maybe we are all reading too much into Piper’s post, but for those who do use this passage to justify illegal immigration or to argue against deportations, keep this in mind:
“There shall be one law for the native and for the stranger who sojourns among you.” Exodus 12:49
If we’re going to use OT commands as the basis for immigration law today, then we’re looking at *far* stricter regulations than what we have currently. The tolerance for illegal migration in ancient Israel was 0. A sojourner had to follow laws about circumcision, food, marriage—all of them.
We can also see this persistent principle throughout the OT: wall-lessness = lawlessness. The book of Nehemiah highlights the prudence of a strong border as an edifice of protection and a symbol of God’s provision. Israel knew - as many nations after them have known - that you cannot love your nation or your neighbor while failing to protect your borders from enemies.
Jeremiah 29:7 insists that exiles should seek the welfare of the nation in which God had providentially placed them. Christians - who are also exiles on earth - are still called to do so today.
Remember, nations and borders and governments and laws were God’s idea. He is a God of order who created structures and systems for our good and His glory.
God placed us first in a garden - not a jungle. The difference between the two is order. “Working and keeping” the plot of earth God has entrusted to us means maintaining righteous order rather than encouraging lawlessness.
If you are a Christian woman caught up in this, you need to do some serious soul searching right now. Ask yourself, what purpose does this serve? How does this glorify God?
This isn't about worshiping Erika Kirk or claiming she is perfect. None of us are. It's about defending a widow who is under vicious and slanderous demonic attack. Think about her children. Think about her parents. Think about Charlie's family! God himself is "protector of widows." (Psalm 68:5) and part of what it means to do justice as a Christian is to defend and care for widows. (Isaiah 1:17; Jeremiah 22:3; James 1:27).
If you are a Christian woman caught up in this, I tell you with love as a sister in Christ, you need to repent.
If you're sad the shooter missed and the former President wasn't shot on live TV and you claim to be anti-fascist, then I hate to break it to you but...
You are the very thing you claim to be against
Shooter was about 150 yards from Trump on a rooftop with a direct line of sight to the stage.
It defies every security protocol ever written that this rooftop was not secured, and law enforcement personnel were not standing up there.
Trying to jail and then kill Trump and just giving him the two hardest pictures of all time is the biggest backfire of all time. He may win all 50 states
Now is the time for every American who loves our country to step back from the division, renounce all violence, and unite in prayer for President Trump and his family.
Nobody is afraid of gay people. Have you considered the possibility, though, that the vast majority of America is just exhausted of an obnoxious, self absorbed, entitled, narcissistic, confused and angry rainbow cult religion being shoved down our families throats every single day? And that none of you are actually victims but extremely privileged brats? And that maybe you've been programmed by mainstream media to regurgitate words like "hate" or "afraid" as a knee-jerk response to anyone who's just not putting up with your insane crap perspective on life? Because maybe we have certain values we're trying to teach our kids without rainbow barf interfering every time we leave the house? Like the idea they're actually perfect just as God made them the day they were born, and maybe they don't need to cut up their body and irreversibly hurt themselves to be happy, especially before they're old enough to drive? Or that they have more to offer the world than dressing in drag and dancing for cash tips in front of five year olds? Have you considered the world doesn't actually revolve around you and what your pronouns are? I understand this is a hard concept to grasp because the world, quite literally right now, *is* revolving around the Pride cult in every way possible... from TV and movies, books and children's entertainment, corporate brands and commercials, up to the highest levels of government down to the public elementary school system... but guess what? It's all a show, buddy. It doesn't represent reality. It's an agenda designed to divide and conquer, confuse kids, sexualize them and separate families. It's perverse. And if you're going to stand there and tell me all of this is in the name of progress or that my perspective is "outdated" as your friends in the movement enjoy doing, you tell me what we're progressing to then. Once drag queen story hours and kink parades are truly accepted by society as "kid friendly" and appropriate "family entertainment" where do you "progress" from there? When are those things going to be looked back on as "outdated" and what comes next? 🤔I think you know. We all know. And that's why so many are putting their foot down here. It goes no further.
A teammate of Lia Thomas appeared in What Is A Woman anonymously. A few days ago she came to us and said she is ready to come out publicly and tell her story. I had a longer conversation with Paula where she revealed a number of details that weren't covered in the film. Watch:
Today I testified at a committee hearing in support of a bill banning child mutilation in Tennessee. A Democrat on the committee asked what qualifies me to speak on the subject. It was a very dumb question but I tried my best to answer it for him.
This is one of the coolest things I’ve seen on TV. This ESPN corespondent made “thoughts and prayers” more than just a cliche statement. He actually prayed live on the air for Buffalo Bills Damar Hamlin.
