This is fantastic, and @Pequelord muchas gracias for the feedback.
We knew from the onset that this might happen, but there's not a lot that we could've done, we simply acquired some assets to show how useful our platform can be for creators and projects like @Sloooths who want to reward their communities.
We've got tools that you can use to gate who enters the giveaway; you can require that participants follow you, you can set a whitelist of addresses and that will determine who can enter, and much more. We built these into the system so that you are in control of who can participate.
I can tell that you're a passionate member of the @Sloooths community and totally understand why you aren't happy with what the winner did, but that's what true randomness gives us.
We'd love to host our next Sloooths giveaway in partnership with @Sloooths, so that we can do it the right way, and reward someone that will cherish the NFT and contribute to the community in a positive way.
Y una vez más, gracias por tu feedback, y trabajemos juntos en el siguiente giveaway.
Ps. my Spanish is a little rusy
A few days ago I was tagged in a giveaway where one @Sloooths was being given away. I don’t usually support this kind of giveaway, and this is exactly why…
Just after I got the notification that the giveaway had finished and they were announcing the winner, I also got the notification that the token had been instantly sold.
The winner was a completely random profile, following 14 people and with 0 followers. So it was very clear from the beginning that this was not someone entering because they cared about the collection, the project, or the community. It was just someone taking the free token and selling it straight away.
Giveaways can be useful if the real goal is to onboard people properly and bring the right kind of attention to a collection. But that only works if you are being careful about who is joining them, who is winning them, and whether those people are actually active in Web3 or genuinely interested in the project.
Otherwise, it’s not onboarding. It’s just free exit liquidity for someone who does not care about the collection and only wants the quick money from an instant sale.
That’s why I never promote or support giveaways unless they are done with people I know, people I trust, or people who actually care about the project.
And honestly, until these giveaway tools start caring about who the winners actually are, I don’t think they really work. And I don’t think they will truly succeed either.
If you really care about your collection, you also need to protect how people enter it.
Most platforms show you the outcome.
We prefer showing the process.
