Reading were docked two points in 2024 for the late payment of the c.£100,000 tax bill to HMRC. So the precedent dictates City should have a min. 120 point deduction for this one charge alone.
We coped without Leeds, Forest and Villa before. Once upon a time the same would have been said about them. So we can cope without any club. No club is bigger than the league
Excl: execs from 2 top clubs tell me they’d be “staggered if there were 15 clubs ready to expel #mcfc Premier League, calling it “commercial suicide”. Expulsion one possible punishment that independent commission could consider, but if clubs voted against such a decision - what, if any, punishment would City get?
Burnham making a point of talking about the investment from Abu Dhabi in Manchester.
Absolutely nobody gave a fuck about anything Abramovich had done in this country. And he'd done a fair bit!
He clearly didn't pay off the right people in Government.
Poor - and biased - response from Andy Burnham on Manchester City being found guilty of all charges related to serious breaches of the Premier League’s financial rules by an Independent Commission.
He says “I can’t intervene *more* in the process,” which requires an explanation in itself.
Then offers commentary on previous proceedings he felt was unfair, AND states he wouldn’t want to lose the club’s owners who have “been such a huge partner in the building of modern Manchester. Obviously, the building of Manchester City into the global force that it is.”
How was that force built?
And on the investment into the city itself, per a 2022 Guardian report: “Nine sites were sold to Sheikh Mansour at a fraction of their value, and well below what other plots nearby fetched. They were on leases lasting 999 years, well beyond the norm. And the fund shifted what had been public assets to companies registered in Jersey.
“That walk along the water from New Islington into Ancoats now passes blocks of privatised land owned in an offshore tax haven, which yields millions upon millions for a key member of the wealthy elite running a surveillance state halfway across the globe. One of the greatest cities in the world has sold itself to a senior figure in a brutal autocracy – and not even for a good price.”
Andy Burnham has said he would be “really concerned” to lose Manchester City’s owners as a result of the club being found guilty of more than 100 breaches of Premier League rules | ✍️

There should be both a triple lock on pensions ( we have some of the worst pensions in Europe for one of Europe's hardest working workforce) and social care spending.
Maybe the PM can start looking at where the money has gone in the last 25 years, who it went to and what it was spent on, alongside the routine and corrupt current practice of denying people social care who are having to sell homes and everything they have despite qualification for said care. Bookmark this because it will be a bigger scandal than Post Office and PPE combined.
We're a rich nation who's people ( out collective fault for voting for people and manifestos that change mid term, something that should be a legally binding document by the way) have worked hard for local and national services, care in old age, and a modest buffer to live on in retirement.
This is neither woke, lefty, righty or middly. It's what people vote for only to be u-turned by all governments.
Norway has 3 trillion in the bank, great pension provision, child care, public services and elderly care. They don't have a magic money tree nor have things like the City of London which should be generating huge revenue privately that also benefits us publicly. They simply hold politicians to account, make sound national decisions and aren't tempted by snake oil salesmen promising the earth but delivering zero to them but plenty to pals.
We do the opposite.
On this. 2 things can be right. City broke the rules and should be punished. Do the rules stop clubs outside the top 4 competing absolutely. Villa having to sell their best players every year they qualify for UCL is ridiculous
I think little noise from other PL clubs speaks volumes as to why the sanction was what it was. Plus the fact they never would have known about it (which is huge worry.)
Man City's recent history is tainted, and rightly so. But the same should be said for Chelsea. Their illegal payments (not breaches of PSR) were equally as severe in consequence. They escaped proper sanction for those crimes, City may not.
Both equally culpable
No second place can't just be awarded the Premier league. Cos imagine you take out all of the teama results vs city... top 4s could have been different, European places and relegation, teams in cups... it can't just retrospectively benefit teams finishing 2nd.
You’re right Ian he should simply run through a brick wall in a meaningless glorified friendly to convince one of the most obstinate men in football he was wrong. Not like we had the whole of last season to see what happens when he does that…
🚨JUST IN: The Key match incident panel that consists of 5 people made up of ex players/coaches/ref agreed with the referee to not send Gabriel off for the kick on Martinez back on GW3 by a score of 5:0.
❗️Full explanation: The panel unanimously supported the referee's call of no red card. Multiple players were on the ground competing and challenging for the loose ball, and the action of Gabriel was not deemed to
be an act of violent conduct or serious foul play.
The ref playing a game of weeing how long he can go without booking an Arsenal player and how many he csn give to the chelsea players. Only explanation.
If our defender did that to Raya. A red. If our player asked for arsenal player to be booked...we get a yellow card and arsenal player wouldn't. If Rogers did what Rice did, Rogers gets the booking and not Rice instead. 🐟
