.@TrezyCodes lamented earlier that some of his friends pay more attention to my tweets than his.
It’s not my fault that he wants to create a kind & impactful Twitter community built on mutual respect, while I wake up each morning choosing violence.
@Courtzilla We usually try to, but yesterday did not go as anticipated so we both forgot. Good thing my ears are tuned to the sound of accelerating garbage trucks, I suppose. 🤣
Ah, Friday.
My alarm is replaced by the dulcet tones of the garbage truck driving up my street at 6am as I stumble out of bed, still half asleep, to get the bins on the curb before it gets to my house.
This morning, they drove extra slow while they laughed at me. But I made it!
@MrsPA_C Can you do trial runs where you’re home just to see how the kiddo jives with the sitter? I babysat in middle/high school for an infant, and we started out with mom at home in her office in case something came up. I stuck around until she was 5 when I left for college.
@anonymouse728 I’ve gotten it for TMJ, but I was very numb for a while afterwards. My dentist said that it’d dissipate after a few days, but it’s super disconcerting.
Worked wonders for my jaw, though!!
The front desk staff let me know at my ultrasound today that masks aren’t required anymore. I knew, since my clinic also dropped the mask mandates.
I appreciate the heads up, but I’m not looking forward to having to justify my choices at the doctors. I just like not being sick.
The result of having chronic and semi-debilitating migraines is that the kids absolutely see how it impacts me. So the 4yo is currently curled up with a “warm ice pack” because her “brain is angry” and she can’t sleep without it.
I’ve broken my kids. So, that’s cool, I guess.
We said the pledge every morning, starting in elementary. It got real bad after 9/11 and the national anthem played once a week. God forbid Whitney ever made an appearance -- we'd be standing for hours while that played.
I grew up in Wisconsin. It's pretty mainstream, I think.
in all my years of being in school as a student & being a teacher I have never once witnessed anyone pledging allegiance to a flag. maybe some schools in the South? certainly not mainstream America. sounds like an old rerun of "Gunsmoke."
My 4yo, referencing the BBEG in the jail during Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 1: “He’s an asshole.”
Me, regretting my foul mouth and lack of filter: “Uh, that’s a grownup word. Let’s not use that one, please.”
@TrezyCodes: glares in “I-Told-You-So”
Dear @DisneyPlus ::
Lots of your movies keep changing perspective during the film. It’s super distracting.
Most recently, it’s been seen in the Guardians of the Galaxy movie.
What gives?
A stink bomb went off in an alleyway in a touristy area in Amsterdam 3 weeks ago. It was an extremely loud bang.
Everyone else laughed.
I grabbed my husband to start running away.
Then I burst into tears.
@veganlovebunny@alexhaagaard I work with an endocrinologist who focuses on PCOS. She said the criteria have been more clearly defined & are less qualitative than they were before. There are 3 criteria & you just need 2 to qualify: 1. irregular periods, 2. high testosterone, 3. Polycystic ovarian morphology.
Note: this is a neighbor kid, I know her parents, and the teacher confirmed sizing via her extra clothes. I did not creep on the preschooler. I promise. =]
4yo’s friend came up to me today & said she & 4 were besties & she loved 4’s cat dress & they were so excited to be twins one day.
The cat dress will arrive on Sat. I am 100% fostering this whole plan. Is it a little weird to buy other kids clothes? Maybe. Do I care? Not really.
@MamaWeasleyy The core books are good. I read them as they were coming out; they’re 100% Victorian smut. The show brings them into the modern era, but the stories are still entertaining.
I think there are a series of sub-stories that have been published recently, but I haven’t read those yet.
@MrsPA_C Our 6’ by 8’ bathroom repair and reno cost nearly $20k by the time we were done. The pitch was like $9k. It was a nightmare.
Make sure your contracts are clear, signed, and accurate.
@ElusiveRural I had the IUD placed & it was painful, but not horrific. Ask for anesthetic & take Tylenol before.
I had great success with Nexplanon, if you end up needing an alternative. They used topical anesthetic & it works for 5 years.
The removal was a bit dicier, but not bad, either.
@maartoos I’ve found that my weight stays the same or goes up, but it often redistributes. Measurements have been key for me, and avoiding cardio. Strength training is most effective for me. Granted, that means I need to actually do it, but when I did, it was great. 😂
I was running late for daycare this morning & didn’t have time to let my dog out an extra 4x before I left. Between that & the fact that @TrezyCodes has clearly abandoned her, the dog is livid.
So, she chewed on my Rothy’s & peed on the basement carpet.
I’m less than thrilled.
I say this only to bring awareness to the fact that Covid conscious folks still are able to exist & travel in the world. We aren’t assholes and we aren’t actively trying to get folks sick.
Circumstances worked out so that we felt safe enough to go with mitigations in place.
I’ve seen a lot of snark surrounding folks who choose to fly or travel given that Covid is still a thing.
I flew internationally Apr 09, with a return on Apr 16. As of right now, I am Covid negative.
Here’s what I did:
7. There were times when I couldn’t avoid being indoors without a mask (meals, hotel, etc.) I gauged my comfort based on how many folks were nearby. It wasn’t perfect, but it helped.
8. I serial tested prior to departure again, and for several days after my return.
