@HunterBiden@cwebbie@HunterBiden I loathe this app and haven’t used it for years, but came to this godforsaken place to say - come on home now, ya hear? Your Thriends are waiting for you. I mean, keep doin what you’re doin here, but everybody needs some R&R.
The Scheffler story will dominate all the talk but we also need to all say a prayer for the family of the individual killed by the shuttle bus this morning
It was someone working at one of the vendors at the course. An awful tragedy. God Bless the individual and their family
There is not enough space on Twitter to allow me to say all I want, so I’ll keep this brief and expand on it later. First, thank you @UKCoachCalipari for coming our way in a great time of need in 2009. You performed miracles, NCAA title in 2012. It was a glorious and fun ride.
Barbara Kingsolver, who grew up in Carlisle, Kentucky, today won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction for “Demon Copperhead”, a modern-day takeoff of David Copperfield that is set in Appalachia. It is a terrific book
Congrats to a great Kentuckian!
A truck carrying around 40,000 pounds of contaminated soil from the site of a train derailment in Ohio, which saw officials release toxic chemicals into the area to prevent an explosion, overturned on a highway this week, officials say. https://t.co/udvrOTc56G
It’s harder for me to get prescribed medicine to treat ADHD than it is to get a gun. Seriously. They wouldn’t give me my meds 5 days “early” so I wouldn’t have to go TWO WEEKS without it while out of the country. Even w/ doctor sign off. But sure, hand out weapons like candy.
The DOJ report on Louisville Metro Police was a deeply painful indictment that requires comprehensive accountability.
The officers who responded to yesterday’s shooting acted with great bravery and absolutely saved lives.
We can and must acknowledge both.
People's lives aren't political. Public safety isn't political. We need policies in place that put people over guns.
I've seen us come together before to protect our communities—we can do this now. We have to come together to solve this problem that impacts all of us.
“I’m weary. There’s only so many times you can walk in the room and tell someone they’re not coming home tomorrow…I would simply ask you to do something. Because doing nothing, which is what we have been doing, is not working.”
– Louisville, Kentucky Dr. Jason Smith
Among the most chilling comments by @LouisvilleMayor was that the assault rifle used in Monday’s mass shooting at the Louisville bank will someday be sold at auction under a Kentucky law that forces police to auction weapons used in crimes rather than destroy them.#massacre
Still an URGENT need for blood donations through Red Cross. More than 170 units used to treat patients at UofL Hospital yesterday... if you want to donate find out more at https://t.co/YqSRZKhtki
@lynsjaye Honestly, I think that’s part of the problem. We aren’t allowed the space to process/grieve. And then the next one comes and the cycle starts over. Maybe if workers had to be given time off to cope, there would be action. Ya know, for the almighty economy🙃
I’ve been sick over today’s shooting all day. I don’t know what the solution is, in this moment, but we have to figure it out. This is not okay. It’s never been okay. And we have to make it stop.
LMPD was on the scene within 3 minutes. They undoubtedly saved lives with their swift action and bravery. I hope Nicholas and the other injured officer can soon be well enough to be thanked for their service by our community.
The LMPD officer, Nicholas Wilt, in critical condition is only 26yo and was just sworn into the department on March 31st. He was shot in the head and just underwent brain surgery.
I protested in the streets for Breonna. I am the first to criticize the LMPD. They have an immense amount of work to do to be a part of a system that’s equitable. A LOT of wrongs to make right. But giving credit where credit is due is important, too.
