COVID-19: The actual current state of the pandemic
Many people are claiming the pandemic is over but this long thread highlights the impact all around us that is rarely reported in the media. Image by @c_9. 🧵1/
As someone who recently endured the mild inconvenience at the airport, I must say that the delays are nothing compared to what I see in Ontario's Emergency Rooms - patients waiting in pain, vomiting, moaning, crying etc. Where is the outrage for long wait times in the ER?
A co-worker ended their life after our shift the other day. Didn't go home and shower. Didn't change out of scrubs. Don't know if it was planned or spontaneous but I do know we got the last living moments. And I don't know how I feel about that.
Our broken team is shattered.
This ICU is 5 nurses short tonight.
To ensure patient safety, a few of my colleagues have extended their shifts to 16hrs (7am to 11pm). They will be returning to work again tomorrow at 7am.
Meanwhile, 10000 people are at the raptors game. Unfathomable!
It’s shocking that our COVID policies are allowing 10,000 people to attend the Raptors game tonight while more and more seniors have to be confined to their rooms because of outbreaks in LTC.
Does anyone else see anything wrong with this?
