"I wish our values in this moment were conversation, grace, and listening. But if those aren't our values, let's stop pretending that they are." Words of truth from Ryan Struyk in the Reformed Journal, calling out the hypocrisy and lies. #crcsynod

@jdl562000 There were two churches here in Terrace that offered indoor play space before the pandemic — but they never resumed their programming. A lot of parents (including me) really miss it because there aren’t very many free indoor kid-friendly spaces.
@carlymbutton Ya she took it very personally when CT showed up in 2001 and took a lot of business from our family garden centre. But it’s hard to dislike reasonably priced spatulas and tote bins!
My mom has never set foot in a Canadian Tire (on principle) but she did today because she wanted to buy plastic hockey sticks for her grandkids.
Her text to me: “Wow! What inventory!”
Is she going to become a convert to megastore shopping or double-down on her repulsion?
@NespressoCA Thanks @NespressoCA! We were so excited to try this year’s advent calendar since my husband had surprised his niece (in Edmonton) and sister (in Smithers) with their own advent calendars. Trying them together was supposed to be a way to stay connected. I’ll send a DM!
When we got the “your order has been delivered” confirmation for our latest @NespressoCA order there was no box to be seen. We waited a day. Still no box.
I went over the next day, introduced myself and asked about the coffee. The new owner replied, “oh I waited a couple days then threw it out.” It was garbage day. I stared at her in shock. By way of explanation she added: “I’ve been throwing out all your mail.” Who does that?!
A few weeks ago someone else’s Amazon box was delivered to our house (we brought it over to their address the next day). Maybe the same had happened to us?
A couple more days. Still nothing. Then my husband realized he’d accidentally shipped it to our old address across town.
My 4-yr-old just peed in his bed (while fully awake) TWICE because he was “too tired to get up.” Then erupted in sobs when I didn’t believe his claims to “not need a mattress protector” because he “doesn’t pee in his bed anymore.” Send help.
@Darrin_Rigo I’m on board! I’ll write the most poetic copy you could imagine and I’ll take a one night writer’s retreat on an off-season day as payment.
So if you want to show your support for a queer indigenous survivor of fundamentalism, check out her book coming out this spring: https://t.co/IET2z1zX1q
When I first met @carlymbutton I was 14 and she was an undocumented teen. She told her story in hushed whispers between tears while four or five of us prayed fervently over her at a Bible camp. https://t.co/RlwbtH5bhD
When I was sifting through photos for the story, I got stuck on this one of her. Laughing? Or crying? Probably both and I know that the memoir @carlymbutton is writing will be full of both belly aching laughs and throat catching sobs. It’s a story like no other.
