Planning a garden info project with Biology students that ties into biodiversity & taxonomy. Hoping to connect with @TownofCobourg to see if we can create and post little metal info tags so local residents can benefit from our learning. So much diversity all around us!
The perfect day for Gr. 9 biology! Indigenous poetry and teachings, David Suzuki, & our LC Specialist all helped us consider how we experience and are connected to the atmosphere, lithosphere, hydrosphere, & biosphere. @StStephenRoyal@PVNCCDSB#ecology#WeAreAir#WeAreWater
@ESL_fairy@DavidPiccini Yes - no response from our trustee, or the equity consultant, and when I asked to communicate with the superintendent in charge of spec Ed the director said no.
Hi #Disability community (particularly #onted ): our 7yo has #LongCovid and his school board refused in-person accommodations. Virtual school doesn’t work for him (frequent headaches & he hates it); fighting for 1hr/week home instruction. Any advice? Emailed MPP @DavidPiccini
@ESL_fairy@DavidPiccini We’ve had to sacrifice a career so one of us could stay home. Superintendent of learning laughed at some of my requests and frequently responds with ‘We are meeting Ministry requirements’ when I bring up new ASHRAE guidelines. Director refused to refer us to someone else.
@ESL_fairy@DavidPiccini We’ve had to fight for home instruction all year while they refuse to accommodate in person. Feb 23 med certificate said that next appt would be September but now they want another cert by May 18 for 1 month of school. Appts are traumatic for our kid & this is ridiculous.
@ESL_fairy@judyblume My sister hated reading as a kid but would read anything by @judyblume (she’s the middle child and read ‘The One in the Middle is the Green Kangaroo’ first; she has been a loyal Blume book reader ever since!)
Our negative assumptions about people with Down syndrome can lead us to treat them in such a way that these assumptions become reality. Why not reverse our perspectives? This #WorldDownSyndromeDay, #AssumeThatICan! @coordown@DSiupdate
Created a digital lab report for SNC1L so they could record their observations of physical and chemical changes using video, translation, & speech-to-text. I know we still have far to go, but accessibility has come a long way since I started out! @StStephenRoyal@PVNCCDSB#onted
@callmemrmorris @MrSoclassroom Yes. Students should feel successful when they are progressing in their learning. Instead, we measure the amount of progress they make in a set amount of time. Grades reward quick learners, not deep or skilled learners who are equally capable but need time to consolidate.
@MrSoclassroom @callmemrmorris It’s the mark itself that does the most damage. Some work so hard, obtain a mark in the 60’s - which would be 80’s in an applied class - and it crushes their spirit. Reports should reflect assessment practices. Instead, we are using destreamed grades to determine streams.
@IndianaTux@DonateMask@PVNCCDSB@StStephenRoyal I am particularly grateful for your work! Being able to track CO2 levels has had a huge impact on my health. I was experiencing headaches and nausea daily and couldn’t figure out why until I saw the data. Your ‘baby’ has led to improved air quality for over 70 teen ‘babies’!
Building more CR boxes with SVN3E! We input data from the CO2 monitor provided by @DonateMask into a spreadsheet (https://t.co/1nPs9AxonY) to estimate our ventilation rate (it was 0.77 ACH). We visited other classrooms with our monitor to see where clean air was needed most.
A simple spreadsheet estimation tool for COVID airborne-only transmission indoors.
Based on airborne infection models, e.g. https://t.co/gAaUOtucbG and refs therein
- A few examples: university, bus etc
- Can download into Excel and adapt for your case

Listening to meows and tweets as students explore motion sensors and alarms using CyberPi devices from @LOGICSAcademy - one group decided they wanted to try using their own voices as the alarm. Check out their first test! @StStephenRoyal@PVNCCDSB#coding#PVNClearns
Everyone who visited our class from H&S graciously took the time to explain what they were doing and answer questions. Students got to experience how learning and advocacy can affect positive change. They get to breathe the benefits. Soon their work will benefit others too.
