Agreed. If you truly appreciate a character, you won’t reduce their whole personality to fit your fantasy or discourse. You respect the canon, the author’s words, and the character’s own motivations.

You don’t put your headcanon above canon, twist “what ifs” into facts, or deny the author’s words just because they don’t fit your narrative.

If you constantly mischaracterise a character while claiming to be their biggest fan, I honestly don’t think you love the character, you love your version of them.( ooc)

Whether the character is a villain or a hero, being able to accept them for who they are and what they have done and still love them, that’s what makes you a true fan
