This is the most shocking data from the SIR draft list of UP.
This analysis by @TheQuint shows that SIR has led to a 54 point drop is the gender ratio of voter list, leading to wiping out 37 lakh women. Let me explain:
Gender ratio (GR) is counted as the number of women per 1000 men.
Current GR of adult population in UP = 941
But the GR in voters list was much lower.
GR of pre-SIR voters list = 876
And SIR made is much much worse.
GR of SIR draft voter list = 822
So, an unbelievable drop of 54 points in one stroke.
If the GR had remained the same as just before SIR, we should have had 6.04 cr women. But SIR draft list has only 5.67 cr women.
So SIR has led to 37 lakh additional “missing women voters”
Thanks to SIR, UP now has the worst GR in the country.
And it is also the state with highest GR drop after SIR.

Far from what Justice Bela Trivedi dictated in the morning, her written order states that the petitioner, Sharjeel Imam, is at liberty to “request” the Delhi High Court for an expeditious hearing, and that the High Court is “expected to consider the said request”. I mean… obviously they’ll have to consider. So, why state what is obvious?

Just four days ago, in co-accused Shifa Rehman’s bail plea, the Delhi HC had refused to grant early hearings. So SC’s order does nothing. What it does do is showcase the dishonesty of the judge. People in jail for four years, bail pleas not decided for 2.5 years, and the master of roster listing it to the most anti-liberty bench available in SC—the sham playing out in the higher courts is baffling!

GN Saibaba, a former professor of English at the University of Delhi, has died.

Saibaba was arrested in 2014 and sentenced to life imprisonment in 2017, for his alleged links with banned Maoist groups. On 5 March, the Nagpur bench of the Bombay High Court acquitted Saibaba, deeming his decade-long incarceration under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act illegal.
