Fractional Head of design ~ helping companies find their brand, product, & design through line ✦ Barcelona / NYC / Dubai ✦ Prev. @myrileyapp @etsy @healthcare
In Dubai, someone will drive you to the airport at 3AM without hesitation. In New York, we schedule connections between meetings. After 13 years straddling these worlds, I wrote about the cost of convenience and why community requires inconvenience: https://t.co/elHwUD9G1p
Life update: In my 5th wk of funemployment/creative sabbatical, I've discovered pattern hunting in BCN, building at the intersection of whimsy + niche use-cases, @claudeai co-work & I are well acquainted, & I'm painting again! Got suggestions on what else I can try? drop em below
@joshpuckett Just spent a soldi 10m playing around the drawing tool, love the whimsy and inspo. Reminds me a little of Happy Medium NYCs draw tool on their website and how they save all the sketches hehe
@joshpuckett@juligroshaus Love seeing this happen in Barcelona, been missing this energy ever since moving from here 6m ago from New York! See you there :)
Anthropic just took a big swipe at OpenAI's decision to put ads in ChatGPT. Anthropic is airing ads mocking ChatGPT ads during the Super Bowl, and they're hilarious 😅 Anthropic is also committing to no ads in Claude https://t.co/LR1v4xz9ds
Life update:
After 13+ years in New York, I moved to Barcelona. “Starting over” in your 30s can feel so daunting but here I am, excited (a little nervous!) and mostly grateful. If you or someone you know lives here, say hi 👋🏽
Design Twitter 🗣️ we launched @MyRileyApp brand refresh, as a founding designer—SO MUCH thought and heart goes into a brand refresh and launch. It would mean a lot to me you could upvote us on Product Hunt (and peep the new brand 😉)

Honestly this is my biggest problem with the one-size-fits-all approach to parenting advice: it's too generic, and ignores where YOUR child actually is developmentally. Not just their age, but their context, temperament, and family dynamics. 🧵
Worst customer service experience of 2025 is easily @DoorDash 😩 my dashpass hasn’t been applied to my last 15 orders with no meaningful response to fix the issue from @DoorDash_Help it seems like anyone I speak to doesn’t know what to do and hand it off to someone else who is equally unable to fix the issue. Is it time to delete my account? 🫠
These new @Airbnb icons have been such a wave of design-joy this week, almost feels like a manifesto for design in the AI-design era. In a world where we've been committed to flat design post-skeuomorphism (thanks for leading the way, @Apple!)
What's emerging out of this Airbnb summer release looks a lot like the expressive and bold design of all the Memphis Group work that came after Modernism.
In a world where you can prompt an LLM to design something pretty-decent-sometimes-even-beautiful-but-definitely-not-UX-approved-(yet), these new icons raise the bar and remind us that a designer's intuition still matters.
Functional is not enough, following a UX pattern and calling it innovative is not enough, a heavy dose of spirited-alive (because I'm tired of using "delightful") to make you FEEL something (my favorite "F" word along with form and function 😉)
At @MyRileyApp we're closing out on a really fun, alive, expressive brand-update and part of our philosophy has been "thoughtful details aren't frivolous add-ons—they're the heartbeat that makes everyday experiences sing" so of course, I had to play around with our icons in @ChatGPTapp to see what they would look like with different kind of details inspired by Airbnb. I fear this might be addictive! ✨
@davorfyi@Airbnb@Apple I don’t think the style is gonna fade out! A lot of new beautiful web-work is made better with hyper-realistic-detailed design. I’m excited to see how it keeps evolving!
