At 13, he appeared on BBC television and admitted he didn’t know if he’d ever become a professional footballer.

He later became the midfielder who controlled Manchester United’s biggest games - winning 5 Premier League titles and the Champions League.

Football careers rarely begin where we remember them.

Bruno Guimarães wears No. 39.

It isn't his birth year.
It isn't the number of his childhood hero.

It comes from a yellow taxi his father drove through the streets of Rio.

And Bruno came frighteningly close to driving it himself.

He signed for PSG in 2013 at 37 and refused to take a single euro of his salary.

Every penny - around £3.4 million went to children’s hospitals in France.

Not a percentage. All of it.

One of football’s quietest endings.

He did it wearing a pair of Adidas Predators made for Rangers midfielder Charlie Miller - with “CHARLIE” embroidered on the tongue.
