While people are demanding resignation of Deputy CM Nemcha Kipgen following the reported involvement KNF-P, the militant group led by her husband, in the abduction and horrific, barbaric killing and mutilation of 6 innocent Liangmei Naga people, there emerged another evidence that these wives are members of the militant organisations too!

Kimneo Hangshing (maiden name Haokip) is the sitting MLA of Saikul AC and wife of David Hangshing (reportedly of Burmese origin), President of Kuki militant group KRA.

In a submission to the Geneva Call Official Deed of Commitment, Kimneo signed it as a Secretary of the SoO militant group KNO!

So the Kuki militants and the Kuki MLAs are the same, not a nexus.

The nexus people should be asking is why SoO is still protected, how deep is the nexus between these militants and ‘the security force’ in charge of SoO! Is ‘the security force’ stands exposed if SoO is abrogated?

Today, I read a piece on the Manipur crisis in the "National media" (The @IndianExpress ) written by a journalist from India's Northeast, articulating the victimhood of what she called the "Kuki-Zo" community, and calling for justice for them (“Kuki-Zo” community)! Twisted and communal as any prejudiced mind will be, the author did not call for justice for ALL THE VICTIMS, irrespective of the community or political affiliations, of this unprecedented carnage in Manipur.
As if people will not notice, the author remains silent on the sufferings of the other community, the Meiteis. After deploying more than one paragraph to articulate this victimhood of “Kukis”, she adds a sentence at the end saying, "Meiteis, too, have been killed"!
Ask a graduate student of media studies about the concept of the "inverted pyramid" structure of writing, especially in journalism, which arranges information from the “most important to the least important”.
Or check out the choice of words, the syntactical structure, and use the methods of “Critical Discourse Analysis” of a text to understand the write-up or the @PUCLindia report. You will know the twisted, motivated, and prejudiced minds behind the texts.
Remember the choice of words in the @PUCLindia report: “Kukis” were “driven out” from Imphal and “Meiteis left” Churachandpur. And some creatures (@PUCLindia also did its small game to sell this in its report) that “Kukis” have provided “safe passage” to the Meiteis from the “Kuki areas”! Could they answer as to “Safe passage” from “whom”? From the “Kukis” or, as it’s been alleged, from the “armed intruders” or “illegal immigrants” from Myanmar? Who?
While preaching that for peace to return, we ought to acknowledge the truth and move beyond the binary of the “victim-perpetrator” frame, these individuals continue to paddle in the opposite direction.
These prejudiced and compromised people pretending to be “neutral”, “objective”, and “independent”, etc, who have fuelled the conflict through misinformation and disinformation must be called out.
Remember, the @PUCLindia report published the dead bodies of "Kuki" victims, and thankfully, they did not show any pictures of Meitei victims of this unprecedented violence in Manipur. The issue I had raised was why published dead bodies, simultaneously reminding them that Indian and African intellectuals had criticised Western media for publishing dead bodies of corona victims in Africa and India while avoiding pictures of Western victims.
But in their reply to my letter, they insisted that they published pictures of both "Meitei" and "Kuki" victims! Picture of a Meitei victim? There is none. Their report/book is in the public domain; I dare say, anyone can check out their claim, and show me the page number of the Meitei victim as against the dead bodies (17 in numbers) of “Kuki” victims of the Manipur tragedy.
Their response, the reply to my letter which I wrote in good faith, reminds me of an essay by Harry Frankfurt, a well-known philosopher from Princeton University, titled "On Bullshit." He insists, "Bullshit is a greater enemy of the truth than lies are".
Liars respect the idea of truth; they respect that there's something called "right and wrong", "false and truth". That's why they lie. Bullshitters don't respect "truth"
As I mentioned in my talk at Manipur University, @PUCLindia isn't lying; they are bullshitting! There are more, not only factually incorrect information but also irresponsible and unacceptable observations, interpretations, and conclusions, both politically and epistemically. I intend to invite them to a public presentation on their report in Delhi in the near future. I hope they will join to correct the path they have taken.

Reconnecting the dots … all the dots got AKT hallmarks!

“𝐁𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐧 𝐢𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐢-𝐊𝐮𝐤𝐢”!
Rings a bell? Vividly! I can’t forget the video attached where a child was used to radicalise the community with anti Biren sentiments. I was awestruck, why they were so intensely anti-Biren! In my knowledge I haven’t known any CM of Manipur who had done as much as what the former CM did for the Hills, with programs such as Go To Hill. Particularly the Thadou community was a beneficiary! Thadou community was recognised as indigenous tribe and the Hun festival, the Thadou cultural festival was made a restricted holiday! The mistake was my limited understanding of Thadou! Well, all the dots are now connected, see the lines emerged below:

1. 𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐝𝐨𝐮 𝐢𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐊𝐮𝐤𝐢. Many in Manipur still wrongly believe that Kukis are Thadous! Kukis are not Thadous, they are endoparasites (excuse my language, I can’t find a better way to describe!) who live within the host Thadou community. In course of time, they became powerful enough to metamorphose themselves into Thadou-Kuki. To complete the takeover, they lobbied with a political move to get themselves recognised as a new tribe called ’Any Kuki Tribe’ or AKT recognised and listed as ST in 2003, hijacking the language, cultural traditions, ethnic attire, etc, of the host. Thadou leaders who care and want to protect their unique identity, their traditions started fighting back in late 1980s.

2. 𝐀𝐊𝐓 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐬, 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐨𝐫 𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐩? The assembly constituencies of Saikot and Henglep in Churachandpur, strongholds of the Kuki SoO militant group KNA, are considered to be AKT takeover complete! The two sitting MLAs of the two constituencies are AKT registered tribes. The leaders of KNA, PS Haokip, Seilen Haokip, etc are all AKT! The majority of Kangpokpi still Thadou-Kuki, metamorphosis not completed yet!

3. 𝐒𝐨 𝐰𝐡𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐝 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐫 𝐂𝐌 𝐁𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐢 𝐊𝐮𝐤𝐢? Multiple reasons below, in chronology:

a) Recognition given to Thadou, the host and their culture - making a cultural hijack more difficult! Early on May 3, 2023, the Thadou HUN gate was burned in Kangpokpi!

b) No ministerial berth of AKT MLAs after the 2022 assembly elections, particularly Paolienlal Haokip, KNA probably saw this as another step to clip AKT wings, less lobbying power within the govt to manoeuvre AKT interests!

c) Manipur govt’s letter on 8th Feb to the Ministry of Tribal affairs to de-list AKT from ST List, deepened and confirmed Manipur govt’s resolve against the fictitious, unconstitutional, illegal immigration supporting tribe called AKT! Thus @NBirenSingh govt became anti Kuki!

d) The final nail to the coffin - the decision of the Biren govt on Mar 10, 2025, to abrogate SoO agreements with KNA and ZRA; this openly challenged the financial, political and muscle power they enjoy and to the illegal parallel governments they run, more so the KNA, the party of the AKT!

All these made the former CM to be anti Kuki where Kuki = AKT.

4. 𝐕𝐢𝐨𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐞𝐫𝐮𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐧 Torbung, 𝐂𝐡𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐩𝐮𝐫, 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐌𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐡 𝐟𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐝 𝐛𝐲 𝐊𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐩𝐨𝐤𝐩𝐢, 𝐰𝐡𝐲? Because Kangvai in Henglep near Torbung and Moreh areas are KNA/AKT strongholds, the current MLA Letzamang Haokip is an AKT. The @manipur_police SDPO Anand was killed in Moreh by KNA! The violence was the handiwork of the KNA.

So the making of AKT by a SoO militant group was the root cause of the Manipur crisis!

Other govt policies such as War on Drugs, actions against illegal immigration and encroachment, affect all the Kuki SoO groups and thus a common stand against the Biren govt.

𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐌𝐞𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐢? Engineered to cause irreparable damage between the communities in order to achieve a separation.
