Update on Ontario Home care supply shortage- I’ll upgrade it to “crisis��� based on what I’m hearing
Nurse tells me the situation is “beyond awful” - unable to secure a hospital bed for patient dying at home.
A patient tells me her doctor- aware that home care supplies aren’t being delivered- ordered her antibiotics to prevent infections because a post surgical wound infection for her could she said “be deadly”
They both said that assurances the situation is improving don’t match their realities #homecare

I am hearing the Ontario home care medical supply shortage is worsening and that @OH_atHome - is resorting to telling home care patients to go to hospital ER if their home care teams are short medical supplies. This is now reportedly causing hospitals to run low on their supply of devices like IV, catheters, pain pumps etc
