You can't make a whole company legible at once. I tried the shortcut: push the team. It doesn't work.

Start with the one unit you control. Yourself.

A machine can only act on what it can read. Everything else is decoration.

"AI-native" is not a tool you buy. It's a property of your company: legibility.

The lesson wasn't "AI is overhyped."

It was: the model was never the bottleneck. My company was unreadable. Everything important lived in WhatsApp, phone calls, and people's heads.

Worse. I was so sure AI would replace my developers that I stopped protecting the ones I had.

Some quit. Years of know-how walked out the door with them.

The story everyone tells: buy the tools, hire AI-first people, done.

I tried it. Bought accounts for the whole team, any tool, any training they wanted.

Almost nobody used them.
