My last highlighted game of the UA Rise Session II Live Period delivered a straight heavyweight clash between @Redlinehoops - Grind and BIG 3. BIG came into this matchup undefeated on the weekend and fully determined to keep that streak alive, while Redline stepped on the floor with a chip on their shoulder, looking to finish the session strong and prove something before heading home.
From the opening tip, this one had a different kind of energy. BIG came out flexing early with a quick jab, trying to establish control right away, but Redline answered back immediately without flinching. What followed was an absolute dogfight. Both teams carried a heavy defensive tone that stayed locked in from start to finish. Every possession felt physical. Every bucket had to be earned. Deflections, traps, rebounds, bodies hitting the floor, and relentless pressure turned defense into fast break opportunities over and over again for both sides. After a gritty first-quarter battle, Redline held onto a razor-thin 12-11 lead.
The second quarter is where the offense started opening up, but not because the defense disappeared. It was the intensity of the defense creating chaos that sped the game up. Live-ball turnovers turned into transition buckets. Hustle plays created momentum swings. Blow for blow, these two squads kept trading punches in a game that never allowed anybody to relax. By halftime, Redline still clung to a narrow 34-33 lead.
The intensity somehow climbed even higher in the third quarter. It was still a war out there until Redline finally found another gear offensively behind the scorching hot shooting of three-point sniper #17 @MilosCopic51080. Once he caught fire from deep, everything opened up for Redline. The floor spaced out, driving lanes appeared, and suddenly the offense started flowing at another level. BIG kept battling, but Redline took full advantage of the momentum swing and stretched the lead to 54-44 heading into the fourth.
BIG was far from done, though. The resilient squad kept making push after push in the final quarter, turning this one into an edge of your seat nail biter. The pace exploded into a full-blown track meet with both teams flying up and down the floor, hunting big shots and momentum-changing plays. Every possession carried weight. Every defensive stop mattered. Every basket felt huge. Down the stretch, Redline simply refused to fold. This game was not about bad defense at all. Both teams competed defensively at a high level all game long, but in the end, Redline just had better offensive answers when the pressure got highest, pulling out an impressive 71-64 win to close out the Live Period.
Redline was led by #17 @MilosCopic51080, who lit it up with 23pts, including 5 made threes, along with 2rebs and 1ast in a massive performance. #22 @DJNewman_2027 added 18pts, 7rebs, and a steal while consistently making winning plays on both ends. #0 @MarcusGoq_ poured in 19pts, 4rebs, an assist, and a steal while bringing toughness and aggression throughout the battle.
For BIG, #0 @gavrad0 led the charge with 18pts and 3rebs, continuing to battle until the final buzzer. #32 @bengillmar added 11pts and 8rebs while bringing physicality and effort inside all game long.
My first highlighted game of Day 2 of the UA Rise Session II Live Period delivered an intriguing matchup between @Redlinehoops 16U and Team Slay, and from the opening tip, Redline came out looking like a squad on a mission. The energy was different early. Crisp ball movement, strong pace, and efficient shot-making allowed them to immediately take control and build a 19-11 lead after the first quarter. Every possession felt connected as Redline played with confidence and purpose on both ends.
But Team Slay refused to just fold. They brought gritty defense, physical effort, and enough toughness to keep themselves hanging around early despite Redline throwing punches offensively. They battled for loose balls, pressured passing lanes, and tried to slow the tempo down to make it uncomfortable.
Then the second quarter happened.
Redline completely found another gear and stepped on the gas. The offense was flowing beautifully with extra passes leading to clean looks, guards attacking downhill, and the bigs controlling the boards. They were making shots, owning the boards, and turning defensive stops into easy transition opportunities. The lead exploded to 48-29 by halftime, and from that point on, they never looked back. Every time Team Slay tried to answer, Redline responded with another bucket, another stop, or another hustle play.
This was not just one player carrying the load either. This was a full, balanced attack and a statement team win after battling through a tough Day 2. Redline looked connected, hungry, and locked in from start to finish in the 72-54 victory.
Leading the way was #3 @D1Jordancw (IG), who controlled the action with 16pts, 7rebs, 4asts, 2stls, and 1blk. He impacted the game everywhere possible and played with tremendous poise and energy all afternoon. #33 @treypeck2028 added 14pts, 3rebs, and a steal while consistently making timely plays. #10 Chase Brown chipped in 11pts, 5rebs, and 2asts with strong all-around production. #2 Christian Cardwell was an absolute workhorse on the boards with 10pts, 13rebs, 1ast, and 1stl, bringing toughness and second chance opportunities all game long. #11 Collin White added another 10pts, 4rebs, 2asts, and 1blk to cap off the balanced effort.
For Team Slay, #11 @AJwitdabucks continued to battle despite the tough loss, finishing with 18pts, 4rebs, and 4stls while showing toughness and competitive fire from start to finish.
Class of 2028 | Jordan Walls
- All Region Honorable Mention
Jordan is a 6’8” stretch big with a high ceiling. He impacts the game in a variety of ways through his ability to run the floor, rebound, and protect the rim with shot-blocking. Offensively, he spaces the floor effectively with his ability to shoot from beyond the arc, making him a versatile two-way prospect.
Catch him this weekend with @RedlineHoops at the @RiseCircuit Session I
