Do we have a different new #Fano that I am not aware of?
The Fano I know did not attack the #ENDF in their sleep. The Fano I know stood up side by side with the ENDF and Federal forces and sacrificed their lives to prevent the #TPLF from taking over again. When TPLF crushed the federal forces, capturing cities and towns one after another, and making their way to #AddisAbaba, Fano sacrificed to slow down the movement. We saw a father like #Eshete_Mogas who refused to leave his son’s body behind, and fought to the end for his country.
If there is a force besides the #ENDF that deserves respect in #Ethiopia, it would be #Fano and the #Afar militia. When thousands of civilians were getting slaughtered in #Oromia region and millions displaced, people cried for help and begged for a response. But, there was zero empathy and zero response for the mothers, children, and elders who were getting slaughtered in #Welega. In fact, some people were planting trees in the midst of these tragedies.
It’s not a crime to ask the government to carry out its duty, which is to protect the lives of its citizens. It’s not a crime to ask the government to prevent internal displacement or stop this selective destruction of homes. These are just legitimate concerns that anyone can express. Instead of panicking and rushing to another war, peaceful dialogue should be prioritized. Ethnic superiority and the suppression of others will not help, we have seen it.
We should remember that there are still fresh wounds from the previous war, and many pending revenges. Another war is going to ignite that!
