@MrScenescof I'm not organizing anything, I'm only doing the internal audit to basically make sure that everything is properly organized. Hence why I keep finding interesting things lol
If you convert to Catholicicm because you think it will involve being "based" and carrying out power fantasies against your enemies, you're doing it for the wrong reason.
Star Wars making the central figure of their new movie a 50yo baby constitutionally incapable of growing up is a little bit on the nose as critique of their fans
Please pray for me. I have an actionable plan to take my own life. Everything in life is weighing me down so much. I wake up every day in pain and fear, anxiety, a persistent sense of doom. I find myself sobbing once a day. I just want peace finally.
I'd like to add on that Gothic rock is a subgenre of Post Punk, which was a movement in the 80s that rejected the angry, hedonistic, brash culture of punk rock in the 70s. Instead, it embraced vulnerability, art, beauty, and love in a very radical and, at the time, countercultural way. These are all, of course, Catholic values.
You describe goth girls wrong, at least, as I understand it myself. Maybe @a1sakata1ga_ & @melancoptimist understand it differently, or more like you, but bc of my knowledge of Gothic music, I can't agree with this post or your Og post.
Goth today (to me) is a rejection of the hedonistic culture my generation was brought up in, and an embracing of the inescapable suffering we will all feel as a result of the Faustian people we were surrounded by, and an acceptance of death ultimately. Death to the evil things of this world! For our world and culture are evil, and we hate it. We don't want to join it.
Suffering is the one part you got right. โeither discovers a different copium metric of greatness- e.g., who can suffer more exquisitely than anyone else,โ
It is the part of the worldly man to fight bravely, and the Christian man to suffer bravely and well. Goth women today, myself and the ones Ik aren't sexualizing themselves, thus making your point ridiculous in the first place bc we don't depend on being viewed by men to be โbased,โ nor do we wish to be Faustian, as that implies we want the knowledge of the world.
We're not Faustian at all; we reject what Faust did & wouldn't do the same. The goth aesthetic aligns more closely with the Catholic church than with making any deal with the Devil.
Despite its darker aesthetics, this is also not a rejection of beauty, or the beauty of this world, but an appreciation for things others might not find beautiful, but I certainly do.
To address your og post where you said โThe pursuit of goth girls is just a modern incarnation of the Faustian spirit of the western man.โ in particular: to the extent goth women would want men to perceive their fashion, it would be for the intention, opposite of awakening the Faustian spirit of the Western man. And instead to show we reject the world, culture, and wish to embrace beauty in a different way. The goth culture at its core is anti-establishment, anti, in some senses, the West itself- not to say itโs an Eastern subculture, ofc.
Goth is the London Underground, not an embracing of The West or London popular culture. If anything, our fashion and music are meant to inspire a rejection of the popular fallen Western culture. It embraces the beauty of the west in regards to things other people might find detestable or scary, not all forms of beauty and knowledge like Faust would.
