@ChAnton556@KatelynFossett I think what @jillpeterplan and @theviolencepro are saying is that hardening of schools isn't enough. Good to do but can't end there. Esp since 90% of school shooters attend the school.
@DonnaYoungDC@politico@JohnCornyn I agree that would be a worthwhile follow-up. Politicians can't just recycle soundbites about the nation's "mental health crisis" and not come up with real, evidence-based plans to address it.
.@melanie_warner, I would really like to see a follow-up to your @Politico article asking @JohnCornyn IF he read it or just tweeted it & is he OK w/ $35B+ WITHOUT taking it from #Medicaid#Medicare#ACA or family programs? Does he agree hardening schools "doesn’t work?"

Read @melanie_warner on the fight over how to save Waikiki Beach from sea level rise (Venetian-style canals?), and why climate adaptation is so hard even in a place where the threat is widely acknowledged. https://t.co/nkmFBmTvPw

Jeffrey Sabol of Colorado cared deeply about "freedom". The word appears on the back of his business card. He's now lost all semblance of it. In a DC jail cell 20 hours a day. No date yet for a trial. https://t.co/Qi5RjWG89S

There was no shortage of babble with @melanie_warner, from her time at @FortuneMagazine and @nytimes, to her brilliant books about processed food and alternative medicine. The podcast will be out on Thursday and the video will be on Youtube on Friday. Catch you then. #babbleshow
@Lampshadecookie@politico If more asymptomatic testing was done, there would be more cases of course, but I don't think there are major hidden outbreaks we're not catching. But let me know if you notice something specific, would be interested.
@Lampshadecookie@politico Yes, the Hawaii DOH is only testing contacts with symptoms, which is controversial. Others, like Dr. Miscovich, are testing everyone who wants it. He did homeless camps a while back, found no positives, now doing nursing homes.
@JohnHeaner Hawaii has seen big spikes recently, from a handful new daily cases to new cases in the teens and one day, 27. Many cases have been from large family clusters. There are areas of the state with a lot of crowded multi-generational homes. Also state's first nursing home cluster.
@Barbara36205196 My piece was focused only on the US, which is faring poorly as a whole. Lots of success stories globally, Taiwan included. Not many in the US.
Henry Beecher began studying placebos after serving as a doctor on the battlefields of World War II. A very short book excerpt from @melanie_warner's #TheMagicFeatherEffect https://t.co/o5Oh55SIdu
In 1956, Harvard anesthesiologist Henry Beecher found that 83% of civilians requested pain relief upon arriving at the hospital, whereas only 32% of wounded WWII soldiers did. Pain, he realized, had much to do with the meaning we give to it.
