After 47 years, Jerry has made the difficult decision to step down from the company we built together. I’m sharing his words as he resigns from Ben & Jerry’s. His legacy deserves to be true to our values, not silenced by @MagnumGlobal#FreeBenAndJerrys
This story just keeps getting worse and worse: @Harvard Law Prof Jody Freeman (who earns $350k/yr for being on the board of the oil giant) arranged a mtg btwn @ConocoPhillips and the SEC where they lobbied to weaken climate disclosure rules.Such an outrage https://t.co/vkUC3E6xKX
Zero reason not to have stood up a methane leak detection task force to tee up enforcement by towns, states, feds, affected individuals, or NGOs. As the military would say, “find, fix and finish” the leaks! (And make leakers pay.) https://t.co/dkgdGcDOoC
Water use exemptions for GOLF COURSES during apocalyptic droughts tell us everything we need to know about the nature of our government and who they are there to serve.
When do we start closing down the golf courses to save water? It takes 185,000 cubic meters of water per year to irrigate the average course. That’s a lot of water so the 1% can puck a little round ball about.
I still think Earth breakdown is basically all we should be talking about until we get it under control and civilization on track to a livable future. At the least, we should be talking about it and addressing it with much greater urgency. It threatens everything.
Ready or not! We are on a 10 day countdown to the first day of school. We are going to count them down with 10 great things about the coming year! Here is the first! This year, we will put our third electric school bus on the road! @TownofConcordMA
🇮🇹The Po, Italy
🔹Italy's longest river has been struggling to retain its width during the north's worst drought in 70 years.
🔹Water has already completely disappeared from some tributaries.
🔹The river provides irrigation for nearly 1/3 of Italy's agricultural production.
🇭🇺The Danube, Hungary
🔹Its water level near Budapest has dropped by 1.5 metres in the last three weeks, and rain isn't expected any time soon.
🔹River heating can cause oxygen to drop beyond liveable levels for fish, and concerns have been raised for the Danube's trout.
🇪🇸The Guadiana, Spain
🔹A prolonged dry spell and heatwave made last July the hottest month in Spain since records started in 1961.
🔹Some rural villages in the northeast of the country were left with drinking water for just 4 hours a day.

The extreme heat that much of Europe has been experiencing is linked to climate change, scientists have said.
There is still time to combat the worst consequences of climate change but action is needed now.
