This morning, I trotted 2.5 km, and I saw all sorts of different houses. There wasn't a single one we would be able to go in and visit because none had an entrance that could be accessed by a wheelchair. This is why we don't pop in and have lunch with a neighbor or join friends to watch the hockey game at their house. It's not that we don't want to.
This is normal in most North American cities. Communities are not designed to be inclusive of people with disabilities and those who want to age in place. This is a big part of why people with disabilities are often socially isolated. But in some cities, they are making changes. Austin, TX is a great example. Most new housing is required to meet visitability standards. This will have a big impact on the housing needs of an aging population and create communities that are more inclusive. If you live in our city and have a visitable home we'd love to meet you. We'd bring cookies!

@servicerotties I apologize Kuno on behalf of people that are too lazy to educate themselves on how to behave around service animals. It's disrespectful and disappointing that people don't care enough to find out how to behave. Hopefully people will do better in future. 💜🐾💙
