Just to be clear, a vote against the Law amendment isn’t a vote to affirm women pastors. While we affirm the important role women have in ministry, the BF&M 2000 recognizes the biblical limitation that the office of pastor/elder/overseer is limited to men as qualified by Scripture.
Our stance as a convention is complementarian. The fact that we disfellowshipped two churches last year who had females acting in an elder role should show where the convention stands on this and the action we are willing to take. We have never, however, kicked out a church because they title their female children’s director a children’s pastor. The Law amendment would change that.
A vote for the Law amendment means we will be forced constitutionally to vote year after year to kick out churches who believe the office of pastor is limited to men but title (imprecisely) their female children’s director a children’s pastor. A vote against the Law amendment means we won’t be constitutionally forcing ourselves to disfellowship churches who may differ on how to title their church staff positions who may have the title ‘pastor’ but don’t function in that role/office.
Persuading these churches to use more precise and biblical language is a better strategy than expelling them.

We naturally tend to trust in our ability; it takes faith to trust in God's ability. But without faith, it is impossible to please God (Hebrews 11:6)..
Praying for my friend, Michael Catt and his family, as he battles the last stages of cancer. He is a man I have looked up to, as he always kept his eyes on Jesus and called us to personal and corporate revival. @MichaelCatt
"Celebration of Life" is perhaps my favorite church service each New Year. We celebrate "created life" with baby dedications, "redeemed life" with baptisms, and "eternal life" by remembering the saints who passed the previous year. It puts life in perspective; we all need Jesus.
When it comes to living the Christian life, "your responsibility is not to produce fruit, but to abide in the vine. You don't have to worry about fruit, as long as you make it your daily goal to grow in your relationship with Christ." - Kerry Skinner preaching at FBC Jonesboro.
God is eternal; God is creator; God is personal; and God is life. The eternal God created you for a personal relationship with Him, that you might know abundant life now and forever. #togetherforthegospel
Don’t waste precious time and energy pointing out what everyone else is doing wrong. Use that same time and energy to actually do what is right. Life is too short and eternity is too long to be distracted! Make a difference with your life before life passes you by!
Jesus - Virgin born, sinless life, sacrificial death, resurrected body, and living today. Now this is a man worth knowing. Do you know Him? He is the focus of Christmas!
