@MelbOnTransit Its hostile architecture, deliberately done to keep homeless away. I don’t agree with it, but that’s why all the canopy and sheltered areas across the entire network built between the last 30 years do bugger all to protect commuters.

@blueturftommy @XtrapolisLegs Yeah the Campbell Arcade exits you halfway between Flinders Street and Flinders Lane, so the only way you can go across Flinders Lane not at street level is via the Town Hall Station platforms.

An alternative route would avoid Flinders Lane but would involve crossing Swanston instead

@MaxJames81396 @jjglamma @metrotunnelvic There is no unpaid underground walkway/concourse between the 2 different Parliament Station entrances. You have to traverse the platforms to get from one to the other within the paid area. (Photo of diagram by Marcus Wong)

@stevengraham23 @metrotunnelvic No it's not and that's the issue. It's essentially a pedestrian tollway. A $5.50 charge to walk 20-30 seconds between 2 sets of gates without catching a train so you can access the Shopping Centre / RMIT faster.
