“I’m honored that my contributions will be preserved for future generations at the National Comedy Center—especially because it’s a place that was meaningful to my best friend Carl Reiner, who believed in the importance of preserving comedy’s history. I know he’d be happy that our work will be around for the next 2000 years, or maybe even more.” – @MelBrooks
The National Comedy Center is proud to be the home of the Mel Brooks archive.

I think I first met Alan Yentob when he came over from the BBC to interview me for an episode of ARENA titled “I Thought I Was Taller: A Short History of Mel Brooks” around 1980. He was so bright and warm and engaging, I immediately knew I had found an important friend. From that day to the day he died, he was in my life and I was in his. When my wife Anne died and I was lost in a sea of misery he kept me afloat with his love and never-failing good humor. Impossible to think he won’t be calling me tomorrow.
So sorry to hear about Charles Strouse. I worked with Lee Adams, Joshua Logan, and Charles (who we all called Buddy) on a musical starting Ray Bolger, ALL AMERICAN, in which he wrote the unforgettable song “Once Upon A Time”. Buddy was so talented and such a pleasure to work with, not to mention the fact that he introduced me to my future wife, Anne Bancroft. So, I loved his music and I loved his introductions!
This week only you can get the e-book of my memoir, “ALL ABOUT ME! My Remarkable Life in Show Business” for only $2.99! (So my advice is to buy it, and then maybe sell it for $3.99…)

I was privileged to know Gene Hackman because he played tennis with another Gene—Gene Wilder. And that Gene told him about a little role called The Blind Hermit in our movie YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN. He said, “Do you think Mel would let me play it? I’ve always wanted to do a comedy.” Needless to say, I was over the moon and he was perfect.
David Lynch - A huge and sad loss. A remarkably unique and very talented filmmaker. It was such a truly great pleasure to work with him. If his name was in the credits, you knew the film was really worth seeing. I will miss him.
Special Presentation!

So very sorry to hear about Teri Garr’s passing. She was so talented and so funny. Her humor and lively spirit made the YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN set a pleasure to work on. Her “German” accent had us all in stitches! She will be greatly missed.
I don’t have a cat, so a dog will have to do! But like Taylor Swift I’m all in for @KamalaHarris & @Tim_Walz ! #VoteBlue
