@Lichfield_DC@LichfieldLive@birmingham_live@BBCNews@bbcmtd @Douglas_Pullen It also says 1.5m from a drop curb, which is where? Shall I remind you that you wanted to get rid of chairs and tables Thursday-Sunday originally? That was fun to question.
Hey @LichfieldLive@birmingham_live@BBCNews@bbcmtd @Douglas_Pullen
The local council is taking chairs & tables away from hospitality in Lichfield. Isn’t it great when local government support thier local high street!!First retail is gone, now hospitality! #screwbusinesses
@Lichfield_DC@LichfieldLive@birmingham_live@BBCNews@bbcmtd @Douglas_Pullen 1.5 is a guideline not legislation and is up to the local authorities to manage. Pedestrianised areas in the city has been a shambles in implementation, thus the balls up of this as well.
@Lichfield_DC@LichfieldLive@birmingham_live@BBCNews@bbcmtd @Douglas_Pullen The legislation states that a local authority can charge up to £500, which is where you originally started at until queried by us and other businesses. You do not have the high street interest at heart unless you have made direct contributions to thier wellbeing.
@Lichfield_DC@LichfieldLive@birmingham_live@BBCNews@bbcmtd @Douglas_Pullen You don’t charge a fee for this because we pointed out to your team that most had already paid for planning applications at a high cost to businesses based on LDCs recommendations to do so. Legislation has changed, understanding that, but someone decided to start at £500.
@DarloDaveyJ@LichfieldLive@birmingham_live@BBCNews@bbcmtd @Douglas_Pullen What’s more ridiculous is that 1.5 metre rule applied to Bird street that is zoned pedestrian. The rules say must have 1.5 metres clear of the drop curb to enable people to safely pass. This applies to roads, not pedestrian areas with “no” drop curb.
@janice_ianp @LichfieldLive@birmingham_live@BBCNews@bbcmtd @Douglas_Pullen @DaveR_Lichfield All businesses in town are done with LDC. I’ve never seen such disgust for their lack of organisational skills and bullying tactics. No one in the offices ever ring or email back. If it wasn’t for @Douglas_Pullen I would have gone to the media long ago. But I’m done.
