@sailorgordo I read an interesting book called “the courage to be disliked” and it was a great book overall about human interactions but sometimes touched on stuff like this being their issue, which we all know. Would recommend a read hun
For the first time in ages I visited Wet and then stopped off at a beat on the way home that is very active after dark. I was in a mood 😈
Now this has got me thinking how much these places can screw with you mentally if you don’t catch it.
I walk into these situations, see everyone and feel the vibe, and my brain will immediately creep in the “if I was hotter people would notice me, or approach me” coupled with the fear of rejection I won’t go near anyone who my brain sees as my type or that I’m interested in fooling around with.
When people who I perceive as hot won’t approach me, it will then starts this infinite loop of thought that they’re not approaching cause, quote “I’m not hot enough for them” or “if only I was hotter” - self esteem takes a hit, and brain starts heading towards a hole.
But then, what if they’re doing exactly the same thing? What if in some warped game they’re not approaching cause they also have a fear of rejection or see me as their type? So then we end up with this stand off where no one does anything… and no one approaches anyone…
Parties walk away from the situation feeling bad about themselves as they feel no one they liked were interested in them. Thus continuing the cycle of low self esteem 🤷🏻♀️
I know these are only internal thoughts. But it got me thinking as to why these spaces always seem to end up with me feeling lower then I did entering them. But obviously not enough to avoid them all together.
Anyways, I’m now in the car, and thinking of what I’m going to order from Maccas on the way home.
TL/DR: we can totally be our own enemies.
