๐๏ธ week 1 - movies that i watched this week
Aloners (2021) dir. hong sung-eun
; just rewatched this movie, and it feels lonelier than ever. ๐ญ But i love it. following Jina, a quiet and idgaf woman who slowly opening up to human connection in a life of isolation.
ik evry movies also rlly stripped down from the essentials itself, but 1976 portraying De Palma adaptations Like hyperfixated on Carrie as an innocent who is drowned into her own fantasy that lead her to worst nightmares make me loving it even moreee
can't say mike Flanagan's Carrie giving me the pleasure complex of moral senses that i used to get from original ones. need more the weirdos elements to carrying it,,
The only interesting way to adapt Carrie for the 21st century is to lean into her influence on the school shooter archetype. You need to reframe it as a Columbine story, not epic win girl power with telekinesis.
read the brokeback mountain book and act like i dont love myself and try to sabotage everything here and there. the grief and ennis that through on this last last act on paragraph (its kinda short read) just sooo raw hit me hard like i cant take it,,,,
