There is no guessing in reading. If there is one action teachers can take right away is stop 🛑 using the 3 cueing and have students decode. The 3 cueing is not backed by research and is a terrible habit to break for our children and students.

Gave my first spelling pd today. The teachers LOVED the spelling cards I made to go with @logicofenglish.

We learned how to analyze spelling to be diagnostic and prescriptive so we support all learners. I learned about analyzing spelling from Speech to Print by Louisa Moats.

Please don't teach blends as one sound.
They are not.
Don't put them on one card. it is confusing for kids.

If U do so, without realizing you are making it harder for studts to read, particularly, ELL students, LD studts, novice readers, and students with w/dyslexia, etc.

Putting all the pieces together for a spelling pd in my district. Read through @logicofenglish and made cards out of the spelling rules so the teachers would have quick and easy references when teaching spelling. Which is your favorite rule? I love “No English words end in v.”
