Together with Carolin Hübner (@calihu) and Martin Rolfs (@MartinRolfs), we show that motion at saccadic speeds can support object correspondence even when it is consciously imperceptible.
📄🎊Thrilled to share that my first PhD paper "Object continuity through invisible retinal motion at saccadic speed" was recently published in @PNASNews!

Irony just died a thousand deaths. Bogazici University’s Erdogan appointed rector who invited police and security forces onto the campus to detain protesting students, arbitrarily dismissed professors and deans is “saddened” by the state of academic freedom on US campuses.
@calihu@melisnc_ presents her poster on “High-speed motion informs object correspondence in the quartet motion paradigm” at 10:00 am. You can download the pdf using the QR code at #33!
Good morning! Who is attending #ecvp2023? We’re thrilled to join with several presentations and posters. Each day, you can discover the latest talks on our Twi..ehm..X account. Stay connected for updates!
The Schengen Area rejects the visa applications of Turkish citizens who are accepted to conferences, summer schools, and internships. Rejection became so likely that my lab trainee who was accepted to ERASMUS+ decided not to apply to a visa. Sad and frustrating.
Today @ocraneri talked about social cognition in human robot interaction at @AbdelRahman_Lab lecture series on cognitive science!
Inspiring discussions on what it means to interact with robots socially and what it means to be humanlike…Stay tuned for his exciting research 🧠
@wickedoffarwest Ben de savunma mekanizması olduğunu düşünüyorum, bunu söyleyenler muhalif zaten. Durumun iyi olmadığının farkındalar. Ellerinden geleni yapmışlar yine olmamış, her şeyin daha da kötü olma ihtimalini düşünerek yaşamalarını beklemek haksızlık olur.
@Elis_Gj In Turkey, it is common for older family members to give cash to children in religious celebrations. Certainly the president giving away cash to people is not acceptable and should not be normalized. It is not wrong to call it a “sultanic tradition” in this context.
Good morning! Who's at #VSS2023?
We are excited to participate with engaging talks, workshops, posters, and a demo. Every morning, you can find the daily presentations on our Twitter account, and the overview is available on our website at https://t.co/8JatiaYhWQ. Stay tuned!
@gulayturkmen@BrammerAyse Benim de böyle tanıdığım birçok insan var. Yalnız ben bunun artık vicdan meselesi olduğunu düşünüyorum, kendime bakıyorum ve şimdi elimden geleni yapmamayı insanlığıma yediremiyorum. Yalnız artık tükendim…
My commitment to refuse invitations to academic conferences with all-male lineup is in its 7th year. I stick to this (& I did upset a few), and I encourage other scientists to join. The fight for equality is far from over.

Hi friends, my beautiful country Turkey has been hit by devastating earthquakes on Monday reaching magnitudes of 7.7 and affecting 10 different cities. So far more than 24000 deaths have been reported and millions of people are in the need of help to recover and rebuild.
shaken to the core… I cannot think of better words to describe how I feel since Monday. Please reach out to your students and colleagues from Turkey and Syria. It would be much appreciated.
I don't know if it is too much to expect a solidarity msg/email/tweet etc. from the university where I work. ~1/10 of their students have families/friends from/in the earthquake region & there is a department called Turkistik with 30+Turkish colleagues with 800+ students. @unidue
