It’s been a busy 2 weeks since becoming a writer/editor analyst for the Diversity Program Consortium, a program within UCLA Health. It’s definitely different from the daily/weekly grind of a newspaper, but I’ve loved every minute & the team I work with is absolutely amazing (1/2)

Disturbing house fire in Simi Valley. After a family dispute, someone in the home doused the property in lighter fluid and set it on fire. Everyone inside got out and the suspect has been apprehended. The suspect has a stab wound and has been taken to the hospital @CBSLA

Mashburn said his intent wasn’t to target anyone but just wanted to have the conversation. Seeing that most of the council members were leaning toward no changes he thanked them for the conversation. Ultimate motion was to make no modifications to the current process

#SimiValley council meeting is underway. First up was a proclamation recognizing Oct. 11 as Indigenous People’s Day. The council then appointed Deborah Laine & reappointed Marques Crutchfield to the Area Housing Authority of VC. Ruth Luevanos abstained @SVAcorn

Judge said he thinks the only thing that should maybe change is doing it by districts. In this case, he agrees with Luevanos. He believes the system is working right now and hasn’t heard any complaints about the current commission
