The Lessons I Learned from My Dad
I am not the man my father is.
I am trying. Some days closer. Some days farther.
He never sat me down and explained these lessons. He lived them. I’m still learning them.
Show up.
The kitchen table. The hospital room. The funeral. The picket line. The call from the son who won’t answer.
Show up.
Most days that’s the whole job.
My whole life I watched him do it. Not for cameras. Not for headlines. Not because there was something in it for him. He showed up because someone needed him.
I learned that grief doesn’t make you special.
My father buried a wife and daughter. He buried a son. Yet he never treated grief as a claim on other people’s sympathy. Instead, it made him notice theirs.
A mother who lost a child. A father sitting beside a hospital bed. A kid scared about what comes next. A son who lost his mother, his sister, his brother.
He always noticed.
I learned that power is not the point.
The people who chase power eventually confuse the office with themselves.
My father never did.
Whether he was a county councilman, a senator, vice president, or president, he was the same man.
The title changed.
He didn’t.
I learned that family comes first.
The train from Wilmington wasn’t symbolism.
It was every night.
He read to us. Showed up to games. Sat through hospital rooms. Waited up for children who were lost.
And when the day came that the country and the family could not both have him at full strength, he chose family. He relinquished the last chapter of how he wanted to be remembered. And he never complained about it.
Most of all, I learned that love is not soft.
Love is discipline.
Love is showing up at one in the morning when nobody is watching.
Love is answering the phone.
Love is staying.
Love is getting back up after life knocks you down and doing it all again tomorrow.
That love saved my life.
I’ve failed at many of these lessons, sometimes in very public ways.
He loved me anyway.
That’s the last lesson.
I am not trying to become my father.
I am trying to carry what he gave me.
And if I can do that, even imperfectly, that will be enough.
Happy Father’s Day, Dad. I love you.
Today is Holy Monday - the day Jesus threw the merchants and money changers out of the temple. He was incensed at them for commercialising a house of prayer.
What would Jesus think of those on this site who see religion as a way to spread hatred and make money?
🚨An ICE agent hit a U.S. citizen with his car…
A man is walking down a public sidewalk… doing nothing illegal… simply filming.
An ICE agent turns into a gated entrance, and instead of waiting for the man to cross, instead of honking, instead of yielding like literally every driver is required to do…
He drives straight into him.
We have already seen ICE agents kill people when someone moves a car near them…
…but this agent?
He drove his car directly into a U.S. citizen walking on a sidewalk.
And when the man says, “You just hit me”…
The agent responds:
“Move out of the fucking way.”
That alone tells you everything about how this agent views the law, and the lives of U.S. citizens.
The agent then he tries to twist reality, claiming the man is “interfering” with operations…
For walking on a public sidewalk.
Filming federal agents is legal.
Walking down the street is legal.
Running someone over because they’re recording you?
That’s reckless endangerment, and assault with a vehicle.
And then, it spirals into straight intimidation…
The agent starts at the man saying, “Do you want to do something? You ain’t gonna do shit.”
A federal agent, taunting a civilian, after hitting him with a car… Trying to provoke a reaction.
ICE agents claim fear when it benefits them…
…but show none when they’re the ones behind the wheel.
This is exactly how people end up dead.
And it’s happening with zero accountability.
Left: Christian faith leaders praying with President Trump
Right: Pope Leo on Palm Sunday, "Jesus does not listen to the prayers of those who wage war, he rejects then, saying: Even though you make many prayers I will not listen, your hands are full of blood"
🚨🚨BOMBSHELL: "Jane Doe #4 alleged to the FBI that Epstein abused her when she was 14, and that trump abused her when she was 15.
Kahn, Epstein's accountant, testified that the Epstein estate settled with Jane Doe #4 for BOTH Epstein and trump."
HOLY SHIT.🤬
I don’t know who needs to hear Jesse Jackson leading the kids on Sesame Street in this beautiful call-and-response reminding them that every child is somebody, but here it is
Had to share:
Some prejudiced members of MAGA mindset are heard saying about Bad Bunny,
“GO BACK TO YOUR OWN COUNTRY!”
I don’t know who to thank for this since so many have posted it. So, thank you all.
Here's a little background on Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, aka Bad Bunny, as the Super Bowl approaches.
Benito was born in Puerto Rico in 1994.
Puerto Rico is part of America.
Puerto Rico is not a country.
Puerto Rico is a territory.
Puerto Rico is an American territory.
Puerto Rico-born human beings are American citizens.
Legally.
By birth.
Benito is a legal American citizen by birth.
For comparison, Melania Trump is not.
LEARN THE LANGUAGE!!!!
Benito speaks fluent Spanish.
Benito also speaks fluent English.
English and Spanish are both the official languages of Puerto Rico.
That means Benito is fluent in two languages.
In exactly how many languages are you fluent?
Benito began writing his own songs at age 14.
What were you doing at age 14?
Today, his catalog includes over 550 songs.
Benito has more than 110 songs listed in the Billboard Hot 100.
Benito has 17 Latin Grammy Awards. How many do you have?
Benito has 6 American Grammy Awards. How many do you have?
Benito's net worth is estimated at $100 million. What's yours?
He has performed live in front of millions and millions of people.
In 2018, Benito formed Good Bunny Foundation, a philanthropic organization that emphasizes youth empowerment, cultural preservation, and community development in Puerto Rico. The foundation collaborates extensively with local governments, educational institutions, corporations, UNICEF, and fellow artists to amplify its impact. From personal time to musical instruments to art supplies to money, Benito has donated and raised millions and millions of dollars for children through this foundation.
How much have you raised for yours?
Lastly, personal musical taste aside, if Super Bowl halftime entertainment being "American" is really what you care about, where were you when - in the 2000s alone - the Rolling Stones, U2, Phil Collins, Julio Iglesias, Shakira, The Weeknd, The Who, Rihanna, and Paul McCartney performed?
So tell us again why you're so damn angry about the NFL choosing Bad Bunny for the Super Bowl halftime show that you're going to change the channel to Turning Point USA's in-memoriam to Charlie Kirk.
Is it because you're actually angry, or is it because you've been told you're supposed to be?
And if you actually are angry, maybe it's time to take a long, hard, honest look at what it is you're actually angry about. Because it's not Bad Bunny. And it's not the NFL.
And while you're thinking about the whats and whys, maybe try taking a breather, sitting back, popping a beer, and checking out the performance. Because whether Bad Bunny's music is your thing or not, maybe you'll realize that he's not the guy or the thing you should really be angry about. Paque lo sepa.

The USA, land of immigrants ….who forgot their history lessons and upon what tenets our country was founded.

These images are verified and in the Epstein files
Every time the WH, trump or anyone tries to make excuses for this fucking pedo, share them on their feeds
All these disgusting boils on the butt of humanity need to be in prison
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again:
The sheer number of politically diverse and otherwise unrelated figures who abruptly reversed course in 2024 to rally around Trump suggests something more than coincidence.
Everyone should consider the possibility that many of them are implicated in serious wrongdoing and that Trump offered protection or a cover-up in return for their loyalty.
What makes this even more obscene is how many names in the Epstein files overlap with Trump’s cabinet, inner circle, major supporters, etc.
JUST IN: Donald Trump has named former Federal Reserve official Kevin Warsh to succeed Jerome Powell as Fed chair.
Warsh’s father-in-law is billionaire Ron Lauder, a major GOP donor and close Trump ally who just struck a deal to mine lithium in Ukraine. Lauder is famously the person who planted the idea of buying Greenland in Trump’s head, a place he is also investing in.
BREAKING: This letter from Jeffrey Epstein is extremely damning for Trump. Most people are not understanding it.
Why? Because of who Ruemmler and Pottinger are.
In this email Epstein is asking attorney Kathy Ruemmler what he should tell Trump to tell authorities when Trump's questioned about Epstein. This comes as Epstein is telling Ruemmler that Trump is accused of having sex at his home. Epstein doesn't deny it took place.
But then Ruemmler responds, with a quote of what Trump should tell authorities. This seems like witness tampering to me.
Then you notice the mention of Pottinger. This almost certainly is John Stanley Pottinger, who represented over 20 of Jeffrey Epstein's sexual abuse survivors.
🚨CAUGHT ON TAPE: a clip going viral shows Greg Bovino’s orders to ICE agents in Minnesota, saying “this is OUR fucking city” - and pushing mass arrests. He promises “trailers of that shit,” meaning tear gas.
This is why people are dead. Share this everywhere.
#ICEoffOurStreets
I cannot thank Minnesota enough. Y’all have not stopped protesting for over 2 weeks in sub-zero temperatures and are putting your bodies and lives on the line to defend the people from fascism. Your efforts are building the energy we need for a sustained national general strike!
A statement from Alex Pretti’s younger sister, Micayla Pretti:
“Alex was kind, generous, and had a way of lighting up every room he walked into. He was incredibly intelligent and deeply passionate, and he made people feel safe. But most importantly, he was my brother. I had the privilege of being his little sister for 32 years. I will never be able to hug him, laugh with him, or cry to him again because of those thugs—and that is a pain no words can fully capture.
Alex always wanted to make a difference in this world, and it’s devastating that he won’t be here to witness the impact he was making. Through his work at the VA caring for the sickest patients, and passion to advance cancer research, he touched more lives than he probably ever realized. All Alex ever wanted was to help someone—anyone. Even in his very last moments on this earth, he was simply trying to do just that.
I want to thank everyone who has reached out to my family and me, whether you knew Alex personally or not. The messages, posts, and overwhelming positivity shared about him truly reflect his character, work ethic, and passions. My brother is, and always will be, my hero.
When does this end? How many more innocent lives must be lost before we say enough? Hearing disgusting lies spread about my brother is absolutely gut-wrenching, and my family is deeply grateful so many people have stood up and helped tell his truth. He would be very proud.”
John Stamos issues statement on ICE-
https://t.co/blah0CyKJe
“I usually stay out of politics. This doesn't feel like that,” the note begins. “What I'm seeing from ICE feels cruel. I don't need it explained away or reframed. I trust my own eyes!”
“When people are treated like threats instead of human beings, when fear is the tactic, something is broken,” he wrote. “‘Stay in your lane, actor’ doesn't apply when basic humanity IS the lane. This is ALL OF OUR LANE!”
“I'm tired of the hypocrisy, too. The speed of the cycle has erased shame,” he wrote. “Harm happens, outrage flashes, then we move on like nothing stuck. But it sticks. This doesn't feel right, and staying quiet feels worse.”
“Lately it feels like the bad guys are winning,” Stamos wrote. “Maybe the least we can do is not look away. - J.S.”
WORTH REPEATING:
Texas has 2.1M undocumented immigrants and Florida has 1.2M.
Minnesota has 130,000.
Don't let anyone tell you this is about immigration.
It never was.
Trump lost MN three times. That is what THIS is about, and it’s impeachable.
