"I'm not discouraged and I'm not checking out and I'm not giving up. How can we give up? We don't even have the right to give up."
- Pete Buttigieg
This whole clip is worth watching:
We had so much fun in my first-year seminar “Quantum information science today and tomorrow;” I was blown away by the brilliance and enthusiasm of the students. L to R: Toby, Joel, Mitchell, Hardit, me, Max, Amudhan, Jason, Priyanka, Benjamin (all freshmen @Caltech).
@molochofficial Winnie the Pooh & friends used to be tucked away in the NYPL branch across the street from MOMA, on the second floor in the Children’s section. I used to visit periodically when I was in the area. There was never anyone else there looking for them. This is actually a big upgrade.
@sarah_cone@MoMath1 This showed up in my feed tonight and makes me feel all nostalgic. MoMath was my son’s favorite museum at a similar age (around the time the museum first opened). My son also loved the two Flatland movies (which were available to purchase in the store) with Mr. A. Square.
@JayHulmePoet My son is the gamekeeper in our house, but he usually starts out with Sushi Go and Unstable Unicorns when his grandparents visit, both compact card games. Your shelf has given me Christmas ideas for him - thanks!
@613__haru Like Marmite, it’s made from the yeast leftover from the process of brewing beer. I’ve only ever had Marmite (I love it), but that seems like a huge amount of Vegemite. For Marmite, you really only want a very thin spread on toast, since the flavor is so strong.
@StephTaitWrites Hello, me again. This is very region specific, but look for a Math Circle local to you. https://t.co/Ma4Lce5jkh. They can be run through local universities. Math Circles are free. Again, we found out about these on the late side but your child is a good age for them.
@StephTaitWrites Hi, this is not 1-on-1, but I recommend checking out Art of Problem Solving. My son was at a similar level at that age. We did not discover AoPS until high school, and it still bugs me. AoPS fosters a community of kids who love math and competition math.
