@PMccoubrie Perhaps controversial, but as a foundation doctor the summary is obviously important for patient care, but I enjoy reading and learning from the interpretation! It will never be my place to interpret the scan but I like to able to look and start to get an idea of pathology.

@Crit_Care_PT This wasn’t in crit care, and I am well aware of what ACPs can and should provide to a ward/speciality. It doesn’t change my experience of being expected to do ‘basic ward tasks’ for other trainees while they are offered training that doctors are not.

Last rotation I did bloods, cannulas, prescribed for trainee ACPs and they got to do clinics and on-calls ‘for training’

Medically unwell pt, I was expected to manage them - exactly what i should be doing.

Everyone is ‘the medical team’ until they need a doctor

@dr_shai Resus shift as F2. GP referral Hb 37, new systolic murmur, recent dental surgery. Resus POCUS likely vegetation on AV, but sent to gastro as ?GIB - clearly documented I was worried about IE. Bidirectional scopes clear, d/c from gastro. Cultures from resus grew S. Viridans - IE

The lowest paid person in the hospital on NYD is a doctor, an FY1. The second lowest is an FY2. If a domestic, a nurse, or a PA has a problem they can’t fix they will call the doctor. Make this make sense.

Steep learning curve, difficult shifts, strikes and NHS drudgery <<<<<< meeting some excellent people, learning not to be totally useless, and figuring out what I love 🫀

@Dr_BellaR Couldn’t agree more.
I always make an effort to get to know nurses, HCAs, physios, OT, and address them by their names. Generally, they call me ‘doctor’. Possibly respectful, more likely that they haven’t learned the name I have introduced myself by many times. It’s exhausting.
