So MON it is then. Certainly preferable to Keane but I hope this won’t turn out to be like Neil Lennon in the showers. Martin could have left now and not risk shitting all over his legacy. I hope this won’t come back to bite us all.
Like seriously. How does a guy who owns much less than 50% of all the shares get to just decide who the next manager is over everyone else in the Celtic hierarchy?
How is a guy who owns 35% shares holding talks and deciding over the next manager? What’s the point in Celtic’s CEO, are any other board member at this rate?
I’ll play devil’s advocate here. Let’s say they appoint Keane anyway, he gets some cash, gets thru CL qualifying and wins his first 5 league games including beating Rangers, do the dissenting voices relent?
@Jimmilaw More fool them. He was largely honking when he played for us. That’s not me standing up for Yang or Tounekti either btw. None of them are good enough.
Robbie Keane would be a top-class appointment for Celtic. He knows the size of the club from his time here in 2010. He's a winner. Proved it by lifting titles with Maccabi Tel Aviv and Ferencváros. Absolute elite mentality is what you hear most about him from those in the game.
@Smee_Again1967 He was the guy with the shovel to dig us out of the shit we found ourselves in but I think moving forward me need more than just a guy with a shovel. So many of the performances were really not good. A lot of that was down the squad obviously but they won’t spend to fix it.
I wholeheartedly agree with this. Send him upstairs to oversee things and get a younger manager in to freshen things up. If he fucks it miserably this season, which definitely could happen, then that will be what people remember of him. Why risk it. Just find someone else.
The Celtic board should just let o'neill sail off into the sunset. Why potentially tarnish what that man has done for the club? Give him a role overseeing things or something, we love him to much to possibly see things going south for him.
Surely the board know how unpopular an appointment Keane would be? Feels like a very avoidable problem when weve enough issues as it is. Id be ok with MON doing another year if he wants to do it and theres genuine change happening behind the scenes.
🗞️FULL STORY: Celtic principal shareholder Dermot Desmond is due to meet with Martin O’Neill and Robbie Keane this week over the managerial vacancy.

The sickest thing about gas prices going from $2.84 to $4.99 in just two months is that Donald Trump is mentioned over 38,000 times in the Epstein Files.
@Smee_Again1967 It’s a risk putting O’Neill in again too. He just scraped through this year, he might not next year. Will obviously have a better shot if the board back him fully. Which they of course will not.
