Vahe nails it: "...one of the prime reasons he’s remained a treasure and an icon is his ability to take his work seriously without taking himself that way."

How Denny Matthews became an original Royal ... and remains an American original https://t.co/wrdgWu17q3

@notthtmartykatz John Sherman did meet him, and carries enormous respect and admiration for Mr K. He talks often of trying to carry on that legacy.

Anne works incredibly hard for Royals fans, no matter the outcome, and if you reply to her with a compliment she’ll be embarrassed and uncomfortable so definitely don’t do that!

[Anne Rogers @anne__rogers]

Programming note: This week marked the end of my 2026 season ⚾️ A bit early, yes, but baby’s arrival is getting close! It’s safe to say year six on the Royals beat was unlike any other for me. Thanks as always for reading this year, through all the good and the bad.

Thinking of my friends doing good work in newsrooms everywhere, but especially at the Kansas City Star.

ELATED!!!

The Player’s Weekend auction ended last night, and I couldn’t be more grateful. The three items Bobby Witt Jr. graciously wore AND donated to the auction raised over $11,000 for Sarah’s Soldiers!

These funds will allow us to help provide much needed hope and support to Midwest families facing an ALS diagnosis.

Bobby, thank you for continuing to support our mission, using your platform to bring awareness to ALS, and help us make a difference. We are so incredibly grateful!
