Did you know that the first climate fiction was written by a scientist on the Antarctic Expedition 1910-12? It was included in one of the expedition’s South Polar Times newsletters. Here’s a page from the story.

@GeraldKutney And here is a warning from 1912 that was shelved...

@TorontoViewer @DrWilliamMD @LTSmash420 Came to recommend the same. They fit great and stay on your nose, and I agree they’re very breathable. We buy them from their US website. A little expensive, but worth it.

@zasjeda @writeclimbrun I agree. I think I’m more particular about word choice as a result of my aphantasia.

@FriedrichFiles @ClimateDad77 This is like Abbot and Costello at this point. The only person I quoted is the person whose post you shared.

@FriedrichFiles @ClimateDad77 IPCC notoriously negotiates the language of their reports down to soften the blow to the public. Also, AR6 said we don’t have much time left to deal with climate change. How does that suggest it’s a 22nd century problem? I think you know the truth and are here to misinform people

[M. Elliott @melliottr]

@FriedrichFiles @ClimateDad77 * “loaded.”

[M. Elliott @melliottr]

@FriedrichFiles @ClimateDad77 I love how you “countered” my point about no one really knowing the details about collapse time with any certainty with a post about how the models are “filled with uncertainty.”

[M. Elliott @melliottr]

@FriedrichFiles @ClimateDad77 Fascinating that one can speak with such confidence about something like collapse. None of us really know with any certainty how long it will take, and the evidence so far suggests a much more rapid collapse than what the “experts” were sure about ten years ago.

[M. Elliott @melliottr]

@maregan_le_fay I’m sorry you’re going through this. I walked away from a pretty great career when this happened to me. Take care of yourself, and know that your confidence will come back in time.

[M. Elliott @melliottr]

@TheCarolynFe @KarpLindsay I was going to say the same

BREAKING: shocking new climate consensus revealed as more than 9 out of 10 scientists agree all viable paths to stay below hellish 2°C of warming under capitalism are now gone 🧵

[M. Elliott @melliottr]

Honestly, it’s about time this trended

[Chris Winslow (born 325 ppm) @moulmein]

My prediction of #collapse in 2028 is looking increasingly optimistic.

[M. Elliott @melliottr]

If you think climate change is just about discomfort, rising water, and difficulty growing food, read this.

[Josh Ellis @jzellis]

Sure! The shortest version is: humans are endothermic, meaning we make our own body heat. We have to stay in a Goldilocks zone between too hot and too cold. If we're too hot, we sweat, our swear evaporates and it cools us off.

With me so far?

This is what great writing looks like:

Giving a shout-out to Antarctic sea-ice extent, which appears to be falling off a cliff in a similar fashion to last year's record insanity.

Extent is currently 3rd lowest for the date. I'll keep you posted.

@PilgrimTeresa I’m so sorry. Nothing can prepare you for it. Just know that there are a lot of people thinking of you and sending hugs.

I’m so excited to watch this

[Xi Van Fleet @XVanFleet]

Opening scene of the new Nexflix original “3 Body Problem” premiering today. This is an adaptation of a Chinese novel and later a TV series.

The scene truthfully portraits a bloody struggle session during the Cultural Revolution. The target of was a professor of physics. His crime was teaching “bourgeois” Big Bang and Relativity theories. His wife, also a professor, was brought into the struggle session to expose and cut tie with him because she became “woke” and an “ally”with revolutionary Red Guards, also his students. His daughter had to witness the breakup of her parents and the killing of her father. This happened to countless families in real life.

Sad to say the same Cultural Revolution is here in America!

I will watch the show and hope you will too.
