📢Excited to share our paper on how machine learning screening approaches may enable early patient-specific #dysphagia risk identification within an #ICU cohort and consequently, timely management. https://t.co/y6I5beXEAY

This scoping review found that:
• EN fasting practices for airway procedures are variable, range 0- 34 h
• There is a lack of high-quality evidence to guide EN fasting practices in the ICU
• RCTs are needed to explore risks/benefits of reduced fasting for airway procedures

@MichelleCimoli @swallowneurolab@rlswbb@drtimchimunda@FlindersCFI@FlindersCNHS@Aus_CC Thanks Michelle, some days I think I have more questions than answers, but I know it’s important to acknowledge and reveal the challenges so that we can work towards influencing better patient outcomes together.
@SRHarvey_@swallowneurolab@rlswbb@drtimchimunda@FlindersCFI@FlindersCNHS@Aus_CC Thanks Sam. It’s on the lower end but lots to consider when comparing studies e.g. patient sub-population/specialties & median duration of intubation, 22hrs is shorter than many #dysphagia studies but appears consistent with Aus/NZ MV point prevalence data and clinical practice.
