I think I speak for all of Australians when I say we want our political leaders focusing on helping all Australians get through this cost of living crisis and tackling housing affordability and yet Peter Dutton is spending his time trying to divide us based on where we were born.
#China apologists and admirators are even more despicable than #CCP officials raised and trained in perpetual lie, because they have every mean to learn by themselves and liberty to do.
This one is particularly ignominious.

Too many people have expressed outrage at our advocacy for Palestine. You haven't been paying attention. Here's some of the incredible perspectives on Palestine Overland has published over the years ✊🏾
Anyone who is born in Australia is NOT Indigenous to Australia. It’s the same reason that cows aren’t native animals in Australia, even if they were born here.
Great to get this published.
The need for culturally valid psychological assessment tools in Indigenous mental health: Clinical Psychologist: Vol 27, No 3 https://t.co/JQ3veQpazG
In my PhD in 1998 I explored the idea of unique risk factors for the FIRST time and developed the first unique psychometric tools, codesigned and psychometrically validated in 2003. This has shown unique factors that define Aboriginal suicides – and yes it ‘looks different’.
This is critical not just in arguing for difference What if the reasons Aboriginal people were dying by suicide were DIFFERENT to non-Aboriginal people?
But I have had to self fund them.
Year upon year Federal and State governments fund mainstream tools that fail to not only incorporate unique factors because they have been developed from a non-Indigenous view of depression, suicide risk etc; that they fundamentally fail to EXPLAIN the over-representation because of it. But millions upon millions continue to be funnelled into these tools?
Why: because ‘close the gap’ basically means we want to measure the SAME thing. However, this fails to EXPLAIN the over-representation. Mainstream tools do not enable us to explore DIFFERENCE or address it therapeutically. We will never close the gap while we continue to compare success against non-Indigenous conceptualisations of mental health. Because it looks different.
Uyghurs, Tibetans, Hong Kongers and other Chinese dissidents are at a heightened risk of transnational repression 🇨🇳. The CCP must not be allowed a foothold in the UK to target these people, the UK Gov’t must do more to safeguard their security!

Wisdom beyond his years, we're incredibly proud of you Tex who hails from Halls Creek.
Favourite part:
"When asked why Tex applied for the scholarship he said my mum kept sending the application for the scholarship to me over and over again, and you always do what your mum says."

March 31st is Transgender Day of Visibility - let's celebrate Indigenous trans peoples lives. It's also my 57th birthday, sharing the link below could be a present?!
I've written a thread that's a plea to cis Indigenous writers and content creators to include us. #TGoV23
