Today is the last day of the Future Fellowship I’ve been doing for the last 5 years. If any work we’ve done in thinking about queer n Indigenous lives, creativity, the colonial project of gender and everything else has had an impact on your work or life I’d love to hear from you.
Showing now at Sydney's Museum of Contemporary Art, Not a Souvenir forces us to confront Australia’s colonial kitsch culture. @sandyosullivan@Macquarie_Uni https://t.co/cqpV5zgjYb
What are we even doing? LET TRANS PEOPLE LIVE THEIR LIVES. Leave them alone. Stop making laws about them. Stop obsessing about them. They are just people trying to get through the day like everyone else. Their trans-ness does not affect you in any way. STOP HARASSING THEM. STOP.
kind of funny that matt walsh's whole thing is attacking the idea that gender is a performance when every square centimeter of this set and outfit is about gender performance
If we gave trans teens puberty blockers, we would reduce:
- Top surgery
- Facial feminisation surgery
- Tracheal shave
- Voice therapy
- Height dysphoria
- Period dysphoria
- Poor mental health
- The opportunity for baddies to be mean
Let’s start accepting that some trans youth ask for and need medical support.
#BREAKING: Hannah Thomas, former Greens candidate for Grayndler, releases video:
“I’m 5 foot 1, I weigh about 45 kilos, I was engaged in peaceful protest – and my interactions with NSW Police have left me potentially without vision in my right eye permanently” | @6NewsAU
I don't know what came over me, but I was just awash with memories of Dad. It got me thinking about the @IndigenousX#Indigenousdads campaign. I'd posted this 1950s picture of my sister Rhonda with my dad. The campaign was such an affirmation. I wish he'd lived to see that.
BREAKING!!! - 11:18PM UK time; I am with the flotilla online. They have just been reached by the Israel speedboats - 5 vessels circling the flotilla. The captain is instructing the team to stay calm and seated, with their passports and life jackets on. I hear them speaking with Israeli soldiers as I type... telling they are carrying humanitarian aid and go in peace. For the time being they are just circled. I am with them, recording everything.
As promised, here is my acceptance speech for the Black & Write Fellowship that I wasn't able to give today, because the event was postponed and my award rescinded (possibly under direction of QLD Arts Minister) - 1/
Please read this thread! First Nations' writer Ren Wyld's award and prize were rescinded this morning in another extraordinary and brazen case of ministerial interference in collaboration with Murdoch's The Australian all because of REN's solidarity with Palestinians and opposition to Israel's genocide. Shameful.
Here it is! The CHANGE DIRECTION short film in support of the work of The Jilya Institute for Indigenous Mental Health.
Change Direction is about showing the world the suicide crisis our Indigenous communities & young people face & what greater access to psychological support can achieve. The Westerman Jilya Institute for Indigenous Mental Health is showing how we can #ChangeTheDirection of this tragedy.
Itʼs such an emotional film – made by the best Aboriginal creatives out there.

@1KarenWyld This is an important novel for so many reasons. I genuinely hope the people who offered to edit and the place that would publish will still do that. I know I’ll be lining up to buy copies.
Last night, I secretly flew to Brisbane to attend the 2025 Black & Write Fellowship announcement. Which is supposed to be happening right now at SLQ. At this event, I was to be named one of the recipients. Woo hoo. This is a huge career milestone!! However.... 1/
