el’s goodbye scene in the finale CLEARLY parallels an infamous scene in voltron, a show that’s well known for its queerbait.

a mmc on voltron had a close friendship with another character, audiences shipped them a lot. in the final season this relationship was pushed aside in favor of pushing the mmc into a forced relationship with a fmc who then sacrificed herself.

the fmc tells him she loves him. and the mmc does not respond.

s5 of st, especially the finale, is a satirical mashup of shitty movie tropes and cliches, and other popular tv shows that did not “stick the landing” with their endings.
