From the joint statement published by the US State Dept (supported by multiple EU states)
We reaffirm the Arbitral Tribunal’s decision that there is no legal basis for China’s expansive maritime claims in the South China Sea, including those based on “historic rights”.

A step in the right direction!
Still, I miss Norway being explicitly listed as supporting partner and/or this mssg posted at the @NorwayMFA web pages.
Moreover, this statement does not reflect reality, as it lacks a proper evaluation of the present situation.

Ten years have passed since the 2016 Arbitral Award between the Philippines and China. The Award is final and legally binding. We encourage the parties to contribute to peace and security in the South China Sea, to act in accordance with UNCLOS, and to respect the 2016 Award.

If Richard Gere had shut up about the CCP and Tibet, he would not have found himself cancelled in Hollywood, where Chinese investment holds huge sway. Respect for his principled and long-standing defence of a persecuted people.
Apparently there was a protest against me today in #HongKong.
Some “concerned citizens” gathered outside the British Consulate to condemn #Britain for granting me residency.
The CCP is so concerned about my residency that they had to stage an entire protest.
Seriously?😂
This underlines the absurdity of the Chinese Communist Party regime. How is an avowedly atheist dictatorship that seeks to destroy religion trying to lead a reincarnation process? Idiocy.

Jackie Chen is a social worker who did her best to de-escalate potential conflicts between police and protesters during the pro-democracy movement in Hong Kong.
On Aug. 31, 2019, Chen was heard telling police not to carry out a “big chase and killing” during a demonstration.
In May 2025, after the government overturned an initial acquittal, trial judge May Chung decided these words amounted to encouraging others to riot.
Chen is currently serving a jail sentence of three years and nine months for "rioting."
Today, judge Derek Pang said the grounds for appeal of her conviction were not “reasonably arguable.”
This ruling comes from the same system that issued Jimmy Lai's cut-and-paste national security verdict and the unintelligible "incitement to subversion" case against Chow Hang-tung, Lee Cheuk-yan, and the Hong Kong Alliance.
Laughable.🤡

3 Uyghurs detained in Urumqi. The National Security police didn’t tell the reasons, they put them in detention on July 4th. They are the first target we learned after China enacted the ethnic unity promotion law
We condemn this gross interference in Britain's internal affairs.
Ludicrous protest in Hong Kong today against our advocacy manager, @Chloe_chc_25, being granted indefinite leave to remain in Britain.
The crowd are condemning the U.K. for "sheltering a wanted fugitive" because Chloe has a HK$1 million Hong Kong police bounty for her pro-democracy activism under Beijing's National Security Law (NSL).
On a serious note, that the Chinese Communist Party is willing to orchestrate scenes like these shows the intent to project the NSL and the China Ethnic Unity and Progress Law to the doorsteps of democracies.
This is a good reminder on #GuiMinhai
For more on the Chinese regime's transnational kidnapping, how they paraded him on TV, and continue to imprison him with no access even for family or for our Swedish consular staff, see https://t.co/K8D4Cp4TFS

A “global governance” initiative from a regime thwarting its intl #humanrights legal obligations in #China and around the world? No thanks. https://t.co/5pp3CjRMrh
A visual presentation of China’s repression of human rights lawyers: imprisonment, disbarment, ban from leaving China, law firm shutdown, punishment by association, and more.

I etterkant av møtet med sin kinesiske kollega, møtte utenriksminister Espen Barth Eide @EspenBarthEide norsk presse. Denne artikkelen kritiserer såvel en tannløshet i pressens spørsmål...
China is pumping sand to build fake islands in the disputed South China Sea, then turning them into military bases.
This coercive land grab strategy undermines international law, escalates regional tensions, shows a clear push to bully its neighbors & expand its control.
From the deck of a Taiwanese coast guard vessel, the Strait looks calm. It is anything but.
If conflict comes to Taiwan, it comes for all of us: an estimated $10 trillion blow to the world economy - dwarfing COVID and the financial crisis - and the chips that power modern life gone overnight.
Nobody gets to sit this one out. Deterrence is cheaper than war, and it starts with having the courage to stand our ground.
So much is at stake.
Amidst the global @erling fever, here’s a Hong Kong Cantonese angle - a colloquial translation of his name amongst HK football fans is 夏撚:
- Phonetically it sounds like “ha-lun” - innocuous, right?
- Not quite - the term also means “Summer D***” in Cantonese! 😏

Urovekkende ofte framstilles Kina som en potensiell leder for en regelstyrt verdensorden. Denne oppfatningen forutsetter manglende innsikt i hvordan Beijing undergraver denne ordenen slik vi kjenner den.
