My grandmother passed away this week and it has been very rough but I couldn’t help myself but to write this eulogy.
It is incredible that you can learn so much about investing from someone who doesn’t know anything about finance or investing in stocks. My grandmother’s dedication to family first approach has taught me that with almost close to zero financial literacy, you can still turn out to be greatest life winner.
How? My grandmother was able to have grandkids and spend time with her great grandkids. Everyone flew from overseas to catch a glimpse of her smile. Not many can say they are able to experience a farewell like my grandmother did. I envy her. Sometimes success isn’t about fame or wealth but how many of your family members and dearest friends show up to your funeral.
My grandmother has taught me that if you live a calculative life and become obsessed with optimising every dollar invested to seek a return, your life can turn out to be quite miserable. It's very hard to live a life based off an excel sheet nor can you quantify happiness in dollar to dollar terms. Buying a dream home is often a great exemplary of this challenge.
My grandmother has also taught me that learning how to take a loss on an investment or receive the short end of the stick for a family purpose is sometimes inevitable and necessary. You can try to avoid it as much as you like but it will soon catch up to you at some point in life.
For someone who doesn’t know about finance, my grandmother is an inspiration to us all by teaching us to embrace the unknowns, because getting married and raising children involves many unknowns, but one thing is a known: Not taking any risks in life is a risk itself.
Throughout my grandmother’s life, not only had she showed us compassion and unconditional generosity but she has taught me that these traits carry hidden asymmetrical emotional rewards while the opposite such as approaching a situation with a tit for tat mentality, will most probably lead you to an anxious outcome and restrictive life.
Thank you grandmother for these investing lessons and you have my utmost respect.
I will definitely miss your contagious smile.
Rest in peace.

So glad to have covered $CROX with @FrisoAlenus on the podcast earlier this year.
✅ $CROX reported Q1 Non-GAAP EPS of $3.02 beats by $0.77.
✅ Revenue of $938.63M (+6.2% Y/Y) beats by $53.95M
🆙 Direct-to-consumer ("DTC") revenues grew 11.8%, or 12.3% on a constant currency basis
🆙 Wholesale revenues grew 3.2%, or 4.1% on a constant currency basis
🆙Crocs $CROX Brand: Revenues increased 14.6% to $744 million, or 15.6% on a constant currency basis.
🆙DTC (Direct-To-Consumer) revenues increased 18.3% to $282 million, or 19.0% on a constant currency basis.
🆙 Wholesale revenues increased 12.5% to $462 million, or 13.8% on a constant currency basis
❌ HEYDUDE Brand: Revenues decreased 17.2% to $195 million
Here is why the guidance was weak:
-For Q2 of 2024, $CROX expects revenues to be up 1% to 3% compared to second quarter 2023, at currency rates as of the end of the last reported period.
-Expects $CROX Brand to grow 7% to 9% compared to Q2 2023.
-Expects Heydude revenues to contract by 19% to 17%

This is probably Morgan Housel @morganhousel's top and most legendary quote I've heard in 2024.
"Luck plays such a big role in the world. But it’s hard to talk about. If I say you got lucky, I look jealous. If I tell myself that I got lucky, I feel diminished."
So swinging true.
