Can China completely stop the flow of the Brahmaputra into India? Not entirely. A significant share of the river's water is contributed by tributaries and monsoon rainfall after it enters India. However, experts note that China can still influence the timing of water flows through upstream reservoirs and dams, especially during the dry season, and by controlling the sharing of hydrological data.

China is also building a massive hydropower project near the Great Bend of the Brahmaputra, close to the Indian border. At the same time, India is accelerating dam and infrastructure projects in the Brahmaputra basin to strengthen its own water security. As rivers become increasingly important in regional strategy, could water management emerge as one of Asia's most significant geopolitical challenges?

Russia launched one of its largest combined missile and drone attacks on Kyiv, reportedly using 68 missiles and 351 drones in a single night. Ukrainian officials said the strikes damaged residential buildings, industrial sites, and critical infrastructure, while rescue operations continued after multiple casualties. Russia said the attacks targeted military and energy facilities.

The scale of the attack also raised concerns beyond Ukraine. As Russian missiles and drones operated close to the Polish border, Poland scrambled fighter jets and placed its air defense systems on high alert to protect NATO airspace. The strikes came just before a major NATO summit, adding to fears that the conflict could have wider security implications for Europe. Could attacks this close to NATO territory increase the risk of a broader confrontation?

Hundreds of soldiers, police personnel, and innocent civilians have lost their lives because of cross-border terrorism. Does calling for talks without addressing terrorism first ignore their sacrifice?

For many families, terrorism is not a political debate. It is a lifelong loss. Any discussion about peace also has to consider justice, accountability, and the security of Indian citizens. Can lasting peace be built if the issue of terrorism remains unresolved?
