the first principles correct derivation of internet gold requires i) not unnecessarily leaking information, ii) true fungibility
both gold and cash have this, bitcoin does not
and both are functions of privacy
what you end up doing in practice is swapping the risk of transparency (in bitcoin) for the risk of bespoke cryptography bugs (in zcash)
which is reasonable and I suspect is a better R/R than even the 1/10th ratio because the risk of transparency compounds over time while the risk of cryptographic bugs goes down over time
encrypt the money
