Suriya’s Retro turns out to be a disappointing watch on several fronts. Stretching nearly three hours, the film drags endlessly with a quirky theme that fails to land. Karthik Subbaraj goes overboard with his execution and ends up delivering a misfire.

•Suriya’s solid screen presence

• Cinematography, especially the Andaman visuals
•Impressive background score

Negatives:

•Weak and uninspired storyline
•Sloppy direction
•Overlong 3-hour runtime
•Flat comedy that rarely works
•An overall theme that just doesn’t click
