Getting rid of discs is a garbage decision and an utter gutting of consumer rights.

This is also going to be disastrous for Japan which still heavily relies on physical media.

This is a massive oversimplification that ignores that the real key to game preservation is DRM-free digital storage. Gog in principle does way more for this cause than people simply hoarding discs and cartridges.
