The Uminekoisms in Deltarune just keep increasing. What do you mean the black cats “only stop when they are bored” and love to eat meat. They also now love hunting that which is hidden (tearing out the guts). Sound familiar?
Interesting that they chose not to censor her death like they do the other gorey parts in this episode. It adds a little bit of a meta element to her emphasized disposability. (The glitchy censoring is also some nice stylization.)
You could also tie in Ralsei’s fire magic finally becoming overt to connections between Ralsei and ERAM here since (besides some unused Knight attacks) ERAM is the only major place fire symbolism appears in Deltarune.
(Heavy Umineko & Deltarune spoilers)
Funny how Chapter 5 lent more credence to my analysis of Ralsei being the Shannon & Kanon combined to Kris’s Sayo.
@inkblotPrincess Thinking back it really does take a while to pick up. In terms of a throughline of attention it was kind of coasting on from Undertale until Ch. 3 for me and that would definitely be even more obvious when one is doing it all at once instead of as it releases.
@nanamiburger And even though they weren’t fully thinking about race at first, as the series was written further there are definitely parts where it was important.

5/5. Loved the way this delved even deeper with the unique vagueness in how the original presented the romance. Also great direction in this.
